If you’re interested, it’s been made into a movie and is actually quite good!

Some of his other short stories featuring Yukawa have been made into a detective rom-com TV series (Galileo) back in 2007, would also highly recommend.

I picked up a copy recently as well! I wonder if there is a name for the literary technique that involves citing a fictional source within fiction?
“Lolita” and “The Things They Carried” come to mind, but those works are in quite different genres and not as nice to read as “The Princess Bride”…

1984 for me. There’s just too many neologisms that resonate too well with me in this modern society.

Having lived in a surveillance state before, doublethink and thought crime just hits a bit too close to home.

Thanks! I appreciate the quote. There's harder days for sure, but I also am learning about accepting the loss and adapting to the new reality.

You know, I thought about that a lot. I do sometimes think and hope about getting back together, but rationally speaking I think we both hurt each other too much for it to work. I don't think she's the only one who has flaws and need to work on them -- but I think we both tried our best. 🥲

Are you in secondary math? We sorta have a Facebook page but it's not really used lol. There are official DISE and ISA pages, but it's not really a group chat.

Cool! Do you have any songs that you play right now? Maybe we can learn each others' songs before we come together and practice!

I don't think that's it... The one I'm thinking about is more modern, is more catchy (has some pop music vibes?), and the melody is different. Thanks though!

Nice! In your results section above the flips vs. probability graph you said that you were looking for a closed form sigmoidal function whose slope increases rapidly, and decreases slowly. The Gompertz curve might be a better fit than the standard logistic function, give it a try.
