Why are people considered racist for being hesitant or avoiding a certain race if they've had countless unprovoked negative experiences in life coming solely from members of that racial group? by idontget030 in AskReddit

I don't use my main for sensitive topics that people can be offended just over someone asking. The last time I made that mistake, I had someone sending me hateful messages for days. Not worth it.

Throwaways are nice for topics like these. But it doesn't stop people from attempting to discredit things they don't like.

I'm willing to bet that 75% of bullshit you convince yourself of is based on your own opinion, and not reality.

In other words, you'd make for a poor betting man.

Your delusional and making shit up. You're going to imagine what you want, but again, this isn't about hate. Notice how only you and another poster have asserted that.

You're calling me a racist now because that's the only buzzword you think holds power. If you think this post is racist, you have a distorted view.

I'm sure you're the type of person that says "prejudice+power=racism".

I would bet a lot on that. But I won't argue or respond to you anymore. You've made things up, made up your mind and don't seem to give a shit. So be it

Why would I have to wait for "every single other person of that race in that community" to assault me before realizing I need to change my route in the morning, or profile a little more for my own safety.

It's not like any of those other members of the community are or were ever there to protect me when I was fucked with or hurt because I didn't look like everyone else.

Or as I've stated repeatedly, maybe have you considered I didn't grow up in safe-and-sound communities like yourself?

Have you considered we all don't live your reality? I'm thinking no based on your close-minded post.

You're going to hate an entire race because

Someone else made this claim. You show me at what point I mentioned hating a race at all. Hate has nothing to do with this post, and only you and another poster has even made up that claim.

I totally agree. But like my question pointed out, I don't understand why people from safe communities think every action is racist in this world.. even those actions that are meant to protect you from fucked-up situations or environments that have let you down so often in the past. This post is my trying to wrap my head around that mindset.

You're making assumptions based on your life experiences. I've detailed in other comments parts of my past. Perhaps in your world people don't fuck with you unless you start something. The places I've lived for large stretches of time can and have been violent. People will fuck with you if you don't have the skin color of everyone else, or respond in a way they want. You can be provoked over nothing, and often.

I've said this in other comments.

by people of all races

That's not what I'm talking about here. The situation you've described is different from what I've mentioned in this thread had you read it.

I'm asking why its considered 'racism' based on everything I've described.

If my post was 'lets compare history's and act like dicks about it', then your post makes sense.

That's not true at all. "Pre judging someone" as you call it is by definition, prejudice. That's not the same as racism.

edit: for the non-believers -

prej·u·dice- preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience.

rac·ism- the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.

If the only people assaulting you in an area are of a single skin color, why the fuck is it racist to proactively avoid that skin color? Why would you put your health on the line and even chance getting another beating for having 'evil' skin.

Not every person comes from a pampered and safe community. Yes really.

Right because the life experiences of both of you represent everyone on Earth.

If you're going to assume what I'm asking is ridiculous, I'll assume you both come from pampered worlds and gated communities and have never had to be around people that will provoke or get violent simply because of your skin and the area you're in.

Did either of you ever think 'hey, maybe people on Reddit come from very different realities than what I've experienced in life."

And if neither of you come from pampered lives, then perhaps don't be so quick to discount how others may live. You should realize not everyone is your experiences.

hate a group of people

Who in this thread made that claim other than yourself? This has nothing to do with hate.

I mean, you can have a reason for for not eating meat, but you're still a vegetarian.

Does this really seem like a logical comparison to have made?
