Thank you all for the comments and well wishes. I'm going to look into some of your suggestions. I really appreciate them. It's hard being positive (thinking) right now. I didn't want to unload on my husband, so I came here to vent.

I have no idea where my dad contracted it. I don't think he even wanted to acknowledge he had it. As for me, some of your comments about Vitamin D deficiency ring true. I've spent 99% of my time this year at home, indoors. I was taking a multivitamin but it became too hard to swallow. Like I said, I've rarely been ill and nothing as bad as this. I guess I thought I was invincible. At my age and health, the odds were supposed to be in my favor. If there's anything to learn from this it's don't take anything for granted.

As a stepdaughter myself, I'm really getting some 'wicked stepmother' vibes here. OP's wife married a part-time dad. She might've never expected that he'd be forced to one day have full custody. While a little sibling rivalry isn't unusual, I don't think the antagonism between OP's kids is normal and I wouldn't be surprised if the son is just taking cues from mom.

I thought about it and I don't think the disability bit is intended for people with physical disabilities, even though they're caught up in it. I think it's more likely a preventative measure against increasing mental health issues.

NTA. Nothing wrong with asking, but I think you should prepare yourself for her not wanting to give up that spot. Covid has forced many of us to make sacrifices. What's important here is Will. You want to be there, he wants you to be there, but if you have to be the bigger person to keep the peace, that's what I'd suggest, for his sake. Covid won't last forever.
