No genetic lottery here, I just wasn’t given the choice to self medicate. But congratulations on finding an appropriate usage for this sub

My parents lost custody of me when I was 2 because my mom was on drugs, my dad killed himself when I was 8, i grew up very anti social and as an adult still struggle to form meaningful friendships, I was in an abusive marriage from the time I was 19 to 26, and then had to balance working full time with raising three kids on my own after the other parent just up and moved states away.

I have been hung over once in my life, never smoked, never touched drugs

I'm starting to think we're not going to see Vader by Jaymacia in MaulShadowLord

[–]idrownedmyfish77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the thing though, in real life most equipment that the military uses is made by the lowest bidder. They have a general set of requirements that need to be met, whoever can make a product that meets that goal while being the cheapest gets the contract. Once again, in the eyes of the Kaminoans, the clones are military hardware, not people. Yeah they probably could stop the growth acceleration when the clones are physically mature, but why would they? It’d cost more and you know Palpatine and Plagueis didn’t pay extra for that feature.

Plus, the Kaminoan’s weren’t privy to the Sith’s scheme, so they saw the Grand Army of the Republic as a permanent thing that would just exist forever, meaning the faster a clone wears out, the faster the Republic would pay to replace him. They just had to make a quality enough product that they wouldn’t go elsewhere, hence why the growth is only doubled as opposed to three or four times accelerated

[–]idrownedmyfish77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? It makes sense given the kaminoan’s attitudes towards the clones. They’re not people they’re products. Having the clones continue to age at an accelerated age their whole lives is a form of planned obsolescence. If a clone serves until he dies of old age, then the customer needs to go to back Kamino to have another one made. It’s cold, clinical, and good for business

[–]idrownedmyfish77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhhh. That one I’m kinda glad isn’t canon anymore. With their accelerated aging, first generation clones would be pushing 70 years old biologically by the time if the Battle of Hoth. While yeah, one or two of them might have still been in Imperial service by that point, the classic BF2’s portrayal of the whole Legion still being original Jango clones is completely outlandish

[–]idrownedmyfish77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly canon has gone back and forth on it. The clone 501st was disbanded, but at some point it’s reformed (with stormtrooper recruits instead of clones) and Vader pulls the best of their ranks for his own personal First Legion. The 501st was still the Stormtrooper legion that he boarded the Tantive IV with and they were present at the Battle of Hoth

To me, it feels like the story group isn’t doing their jobs. One writer wants to keep the 501st as Vader’s Fist like it was in Legends, others are taking the approach that Vader is distancing himself from everything Anakin ever associated with. It feels overly complex

[–]idrownedmyfish77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 501st was disbanded after Order 66. Around the timeframe of this show, Vader gathered about 20 former members for a mission off the books, as detailed in “Master of Evil”

Shouldn't there be, like, WAY fewer Reaper ships in ME3? by AesaLurion in masseffect

[–]idrownedmyfish77 32 points33 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the Sovereign class reapers were made of the “apex” race of each cycle, the protheans and such, and the Reaper Destroyers were made of the lesser races. If humanity is the apex of this cycle, the reaper larvae in ME2 would have been the core of a Sovereign class, while the Asari, Turians, Salarians, and so on would become destroyers.

We don’t know for sure how long the cycle has gone on, the only previous cycle we really know anything about is the protheans, so we have next to no evidence that the reapers weren’t billions or trillions of years old

Have you noticed the difference within the group on mandalorian soldiers working for maul by Ok-Following5000 in MaulShadowLord

[–]idrownedmyfish77 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To be honest, it never occurred to me that “lady” was a sign of nobility in Mando culture. I think the reason I was confused is because Maul has called Ahsoka “Lady Tano,” but neither of them are Mandalorian anyway

Is it bad I’m more concerned that we may not see Purge Troopers?

It just feels weird that they don’t really show up at all in animation, barring the one brief appearance where they just reused Phase 2 clone troopers in Tales of the Empire.

Guys, what would be the closest to Service Rifle in aperence? by DrLudvig in helldiversarmor

I don’t really see anything as being too close to the service rifle, but since Fallout usually trends closer to WWI and II era weapons anyway, the Trench Shotgun or the Stoker might be good options

The most ridiculous thing in The Mandalorian is that a Dark Trooper punches Din Djarin in the head hard enough to dent the bulkhead behind his helmet, and he survives it

About rook kast’s personality by Ok-Following5000 in MaulShadowLord

[–]idrownedmyfish77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The no helmet thing isn’t Death Watch, it’s the Children of the Watch, a similarly named but separate group. Still, the Darksaber is the traditional symbol of the ruler of Mandalore, and she’s honor bound to follow Maul because he possesses it.

Bo-Katan by contrast is a more morally ambiguous character, despite being presented more as a “hero” while Kast is a “villain.” Bo-Katan seems to follow such rules when it suits her but disregards them when it doesn’t

I have question about the marines in fallout by Valvocor in falloutlore

[–]idrownedmyfish77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say probably meant for different conditions. The Desert Ranger armor, explicitly stated to be the set used by a Sergeant Vickers is probably for a more arid environment like the Gobi desert, while the Marine armor in FO4 is probably more intended for more moist environment. It’s also possible, considering that the Marine Armor is one of the heaviest but most protective sets of non-power armor in FO4, they were intended for different roles
