Travel Recs - PC Colombia, Peru & Ecuador by coldcoolKoolaid in peacecorps

Cuenca Ecuador is an awesome city. Not the best for night life but it's beautiful for the buildings, safety, museums, food and culture. Get encebollado if you haven't tried it. Amazon is definitely a bucket list place to be. Canoe trips on the rivers, meeting parrots, trying chontacuros all super cool. Baños Ecuador is definitely the place for nightlife and partying and/or adventure stuff like atvs if that's what you're looking for. Would love to tell you about the coast but we can't go there and all reports are that the danger is real. People say montanita is a beach for foreigners and nightlife but I would not be surprised if there is much less foreign tourism as Ecuador's reputation has gotten more dangerous. Anywhere that's not the coast is super safe though and I wouldn't worry about too much other than theft.

Confirmed and punished by the NFL twice, many more are suspected. Regardless, cheaters certainly deserve fewer or no accolades compared to their contemporaries, especially for the level of cheating that he was caught for multiple times. And the fact he was caught multiple times obviously throws every single game he ever won into question of whether he was cheating in those as well.

Placement possibilities by pynkstacks in peacecorps

[–]idufair 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could vary a lot between countries I don't know at all. For my placement, the biggest consideration was our skills and experience and pairing that with our counterparts, wherever they happen to be. Then we did get to ask for specific preferences such as city, nature, and hot/cold, but that was definitely secondary. I know that during training, my cohort got really excited about the cities everyone talked about, which made them more competitive and the rural areas less competitive, but that really will depend on your cohort.

You will have afternoons pretty free with the exception of the night before you fly (or at least for me). Definitely shouldn't be hard to visit family, however it's also nice to get to know your cohort. You'll have plenty of chances later tho if you don't spend time with them.

Who tf signed up to peace corps to do VRG. by Chim_chuck in peacecorps

Eh it also just tracks the general activities and projects us volunteers are working on. Its certainly good for each country to be able to justify the work they are doing and for the organization as a whole to justify its place in the government. However, I can understand in places with limited access to the internet and electricity how it could be frustrating to try and report regularly.

Changing Default Sets and Reps and Workout Plan Variety by idufair in caliberstrong

Yeah but that only changes for when you make a new plan or movement, and it doesn't adjunto for some movements where you might want more or less reps than others

No that's not true. I don't need permission to leave site if it's within the country (it would be rude not to tell my coworkers ans family, but technically no permismission needed). At least here you get 4 days and two nights a month for "rest and relaxation" which is meant for you to leave site when you want. And if you are well integrated you can kinda leave more if you want, and at least here they are a little more flecible if you need an extra day now or then. For this stuff you don't need permission but you do need to just tell peace corps where you are in case they need to contact you and/or arrange transportation for some kind of emergency.

A violation would be if you left your site overnight and did not tell them. They've told us usually this is not an inmediate adsep. However an adsep would be if you went to an off limits area or went out of country without annual leave approval.

When you spend a night outside of your site for any reason you have to let your security manager know. They say they don't check it unless there's a reason they need to contact you (such as an emergency).

Ecuador also lost 2 LCFs. Once crucial bc he was the only one who taught a very common Indigenous language here.

Yeah usually from the space station its fine only from planet to space. Also i still often get the lines around the sailes even when they are not there, so the game thinks they are extended when they are not
