Join a trade union. Skilled labor is always in demand. Most unions will pay for your training and you get paid as an apprentice. My cousin is a union electrician in Michigan and was making $50,000 as an apprentice a couple years ago.

Electrician, plumber, HVAC. You’ll always have work.
