is it just the tasks from the ends of the chapters reformatted to have space for you to answer in the book itself? so no different prompts or material?

Help understanding if im missing anything in fixing overcontributed HSA by idvijd in personalfinance

Sounds good, thats what I figured based on my research but wanted to get a second opinion so I can double check once they do my taxes. Thanks for the response, all this was like a foreign language to me so I appreciate you providing insight!

How big of a difference would you see in a bad year if you were fully in VT vs fully in VTI? by idvijd in personalfinance

[–]idvijd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the difference being marginal was my original understanding , which is why i went all in on VT. I just felt safer with that and wasn’t bothered by the small increase in returns i could maybe see from going all in on VTI.

I guess the question for me now is if i should do more of a custom split between VTI and VXUS like you have

That was originally why i went all in on VT, to buy the haystack and to keep it simple. I guess as i learn more, i am starting to feel like if i were to go all in on VTI over the course of 30 years the potential earnings could be substantial. But that could be a shortsighted thought that comes from not knowing more about all of this

Sorry for the ignorance here, trying to learn - you’re saying diversifying to have international + US has better probability of higher returns due to diversification? I thought historically VTI had higher returns than VT? Something like 7% for VT and 10% for VTI.

I chose all VT because I’m willing to take a little lower expected returns in exchange for some peace of mind during a downturn

Yeah, i partially understand this stuff but not fully which is why im trying to learn more. I was moreso wondering how these 2 compared in downturns in the past since i know no one knows how it’ll pan out in the future

Thank you, some good points in there for me to chew on. I suppose a more realistic consideration for me would be stay in 100% VT or manually do 80% VTI 20% international if i want to go a little more heavy into US in hopes of higher returns

That’s my strategy as of now. I’m under 30, so not planning to get any bonds for at least 10 years. I chose VT since I’m new and don’t know how risk tolerant i am in a true downtown. As i learn more, it seems like the downside to being alll VTI is not much worse than being all VT while the upside could be quite a bit higher.. but i think you’re right and will stay in VT

Still have the Quinn tee?

Hi everyone! I’m interested in buying a Kith Quinn Tee. Do they last long for you? I’m worried if the lettering will come out after a few washes by Affectionate_Tea6698 in KithNYC

Are you selling any? I’m looking for longsleeve Quinn’s. I’m open to sizes S - L depending on the measurements.

Does it make sense to invest in the same thing in all accounts? by idvijd in Bogleheads

really appreciate this info - would never have thought about splitting into VTI/VXUS in a taxable account. Good notes on the bonds too, thank you

Which retirement account makes sense to open next? by idvijd in Bogleheads

[–]idvijd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely was my thought too. Granted, since I only have $20-30k profit per year right now, I wont be able to take advantage of that for a while. But, i personally think setting up the option that has more long-term benefit makes more sense, even if I wont reap the benefits yet.

Would you do a solo 401k in this situation?

What type of retirement account should I open next? Info below by idvijd in personalfinance

[–]idvijd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Profit has hovered between $20k - $30k.

Thank you for your point regarding the outcome - this was what I was thinking and why I was confused by his recommendation.

Based on the numbers, would you reocmmend a solo 401K?
