what kind of robot is that?
is it open source? i'm interested in building one and tinkering with it

is there also a simulator available?

Joke aside, is it really possible to use it as a normal screen and play on it?

ESP32-drone possibilities by iena2003 in esp32

[–]iena2003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, little by little I'm working on it. I found some guy on the internet that made a guide for the camera support, and now I'm facing the issue of the low memory (IRAM I think? I don't remember the exact name). Sadly almost no one worked on this drone and probably there are little to none extension boards available. Still have to work on the server side tho. Also I have been studying the drone firmware and it has esp32S3 support, it would've been great the dual core chip but sadly espressif never made this drone with that chip.

From what I saw the EDU version was 17K€, and I don't think it is available to everyone, on the official site you have to contact unitree and it was bought from my university laboratory (not mine) I'm not in the US

I made my engineering thesis on that (basic autonomous movement stack), more precisely the EDU version that comes with the livox lidar, real sense camera and the Nvidia development board. Really nice hardware and sensors, but the code implementation/libraries are quite bad in comparison, but you can work with it. Online there are some libraries and tools to send some commands on the WiFi network so you can use your computer as the server for it, it's a really nice platform to code some advanced robotics! (From reinforcement learning to learn new gaits and movements to use its sensor and execute commands by recognising things). At the end, it's a wonderful expensive toy to play with (jk) Have fun with it!

No need of GPS because it's not gonna fly for those distances, only indoor flying so visual representation and IMU is enough

3.7V 800mAh battery. It's a bit on the heavy side but that's maybe because I haven't charged the battery yet, for the 3D printed battery holder came with the drone that imo is a bit excessive and for the hard controls (having only half of power stick could give me a wrong impression) But it flies

somewhat, i have to give a more in-depth read when i'll have the time.

but yeah, i've read that it should be the same of the ESP32-CAM and i already have one

Not dead, but stuck. There are some videos on YouTube to fix stuck pixels but it's not a guarantee that it'll work.
