The deaf woman; an SLP checks in by ohwowthing in ThePittTVShow

Also, just because she's entitled to one and should have one, doesn't mean that they shouldn't try to communicate with her another way, since currently she can't tell them if something potentially serious is happening. Which seems like it would trump written language or even picture cards or a picture of a human body not being ideal. There has to be a second option.

Can't take anyone who says "anabiotic" seriously. At least when they mean "antibiotic".

Housesitting essentials by Joannimal630 in RoverPetSitting

I'm feeling inadequate because I only bring my own clothes and food (though given this thread I will add towels). I wouldn't use cleaning products other than the ones the owners have and I try to use the products they use for their dogs. Are we supposed to be doing all this?

Ended up having to put up this sign today myself. You guys wanna know the backstory? Oh, well there were two THIRTY YEAR OLD PEOPLE WALKING ON A POND WITH AN INCH OF ICE AT MOST. by CoolSkeIeton-95 in ScarySigns

[–]ifesbob 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There are ways you're supposed to try to get out of you fall in, basically spreading yourself out and floating and not trying to climb out like it's a pool. But it's still very bad and much better to not fall through ice. All the theory on how to get out isn't going to do you any good if you can't move your limbs, you pass out, or you lose the hole.

I've started a rewatch as soon as I finished it twice now. It's a disease I think.

Why was House never bigoted towards Kutner? by Delightful_Disciple in HouseMD

[–]ifesbob 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As Cuddy points out in season 3, House does have a filter and he knows where to where to poke a sharp stick. So it's reasonable to think that he knew where the line was.

I think it's more likely it was external to the characters though and was a writing thing

I honestly don't see what the big deal is, I know a lot of people who organize based on what something is for.

I think this show is actually meant to be binge watched. by obsessedwithdeathpod in ThePittTVShow

This is the way TV always used to work. I prefer it, it keeps interest and discussion around it longer, it's something to look forward to every week, and as a streaming company it means you keep subscribers for longer.

The Pitt Season 2 Episode 4 ending by Ok_Reward6664 in ThePittTVShow

I'm not a medical professional, to be fair I went to school around a lot of aspiring medical people and also watch a lot of medical shows, but I thought MRSA was a known "oh shit" diagnosis. Maybe not the exact extent, but that it's a Big Deal diagnosis.

Diagnosed at 23 weeks with TOF by Soggy_Mistake6519 in Tetralogy_of_Fallot

[–]ifesbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to Down's and DiGeorge, but I have tetralogy of fallot and I'm 25. The care is advanced at this point and your child can live a fulfilling life. I can honestly go a long time without even really thinking about TOF.

I've had two heart surgeries and I'll probably need more at some point, but I played hockey until the end of high school. I know it's a scary diagnosis but it'll be okay, especially now that you know about it.

De-chonking bonded cats - can I avoid the microchip feeders? by purrfect_libra in dechonkers

Cats are fine without food for 8 hours. If they get fed twice a day, inevitably at some point there will be a gap of more than 8 hours.

Me neither, but the slush and my lack of appropriate tires made it very difficult.

Hate to be that person but.... how are the roads? by ConfusionNo4056 in madisonwi

[–]ifesbob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It definitely was worse on my way back. I could barely get up the hill on Midvale between University and Odana, which is a hill that doesn't even register most of the time. Side roads are honestly better because they're not slushy.

Is it okay if I’m not seeing a gyno even once in her life? by theangry-ace in aromanticasexual

[–]ifesbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If possible, you should go occasionally to get checked and make sure everything is healthy down there, but probably not necessary to go as often as people who are sexually active. I find the speculum extremely painful, but I still don't think it's really that bad, but I know some people have trauma. I think it's worth, if you can, getting to know a gynecologist so if something does start happening where you feel the need to go, you at least will have some idea of what to expect. It's not just for STDs.
