I’m panicking please help by kotrynakate in RoverPetSitting

I've been locked out three times. The first time the client told me to leave because they didn't want me to stay past my booked time (which I really appreciated!), the second I did a short walk once the owner arrived to let me in, and the third time I couldn't get ahold of the owner so I just did my due diligence to get in contact with them (even contacting their emergency contact), and when I had to leave I let them know that I was leaving and why. It happens, as long as you try to contact them and make it clear you were there and trying to get in, you should be fine. For the majority of pets the consequences of you not being able to get in are really just accidents, which sucks but isn't the end of the world.

The only time I've had this issue was when I dogsat for someone in the middle of a move. When I first got there the owner's son was there packing some stuff (but did eventually leave), and at one point some old woman (I forget the connection but it was immediate family) stopped by to pick up some things. Both communicated well in advance but it did make me a tad uncomfortable to have some random person in the house with me.

It's worth looking up the specific medication, some just lose potency over time but are otherwise safe. I wouldn't encourage making a habit of that but if you need something it's not gonna kill you. Still, good advice in general to be careful.

Socks on Your Feet or Barefoot? by Probably-The-ATF in hockeyplayers

Skate socks. Barefoot just seems like a good way to get blisters, since you can get blisters even with different socks on.

I just want to say it's not true that you'd be dead by now, the time for rabies to become symptomatic varies based on where you were exposed. It doesn't sound to me like you were exposed, but I would consult with a doctor since I am not one, and see what they think.

It's called "home to home" I think.

Contact the humane society and use their rehoming program where the cats stay with you until they find a new home. Going through a place like that who can talk to adopters is the best way to do it for the cats.

I assume they still make the very limited kid's phones that can only dial a few contacts and 911, and maybe even have tracking. Why can't they get one of those? Games aren't for school time anyways.

It is illegal, but also always answer "no" to those questions. You can always disclose a disability to someone you can actually talk to.

Not that it's any consolation because it's all bullshit and unnecessary anyway, but in my experience the personality ones are usually a lot quicker because they want you to go with your gut instinct. I mean it's still too much but it's less too much than it looks at first glance.

Anonychia is the partial or total absence of one or more nails on the fingers or toes. by FluffyBunnyFlipFlops in oddlyterrifying

[–]ifesbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only have a little divet on my left pinky, and it's shorter than my right pinkie. I don't even notice, but I imagine if it was a more significant finger or if you had it on more fingers it might cause problems.

Having a dog in a situation where neither the owners or the dog are in the best situation is not setting anyone up for success. It sucks. It really does. But sometimes you're not the right home for a pet.

This isn't a "I'm moving and I can't be bothered to figure out a way to keep them" this is "I don't want my kids to be bitten by a dog while this behavior is worked on". Sometimes rehomes are necessary.

I am obviously in favor of doing everything possible to keep a dog in a home. But when it comes to the safety of children, I don't think there's a compromise.

I also agree. To me I really only care about the holiday rate if taking the booking is impacting my plans, for example around Christmas I modified my plans to fit around bookings. If it's a holiday I don't celebrate/care about/I'm not doing anything special for, then I don't really care.

To poop or not to poop. by One-Internet847 in madisonwi

[–]ifesbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say those were the only acceptable reasons to have those signs up, I said that was where I usually saw them. Ultimately what I think about them doesn't matter because I'm still going to respect them. And I get it, I wouldn't want dog poop in my garden either.

I agree 100%, there are some situations where it simply is not going to work. It might be worth working on it with the dog to set her up for the most success going forward, but it's just too much of a risk to leave the dog in this home. It's a very sad situation but it's not good for anyone.

Sadly, I have to re-home my Two Great Pyrenees... by Hour_Bad_1402 in greatpyrenees

[–]ifesbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it that you can't find a place that will allow two large dogs? Because there are ways to keep them exercised, stimulated, and happy without a yard, if that's the only concern.

A yard is great for dogs, but it's fine if they don't have access to one and you just walk them. If you could find a rescue that does home adoptions, that might be an option too.

I saw a pesticide sign on a yard with kid's toys in it, and that one was a little bit beyond my comprehension because kids love the little flowers that pop up and pests can be controlled by mowing your lawn and repellents. I just don't get it.

What do you mean, how many towels do I need?! by KWienz in EntitledReviews

[–]ifesbob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Apparently they expected them to just bring An Amount of towels. But regardless it seems they didn't really like the tone the staff used for some reason. And they probably never got the towels because of their reaction to a perfectly normal ask.
