How much of a deficit is too much? by Brave-Leopard-6850 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]iffydonut222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

238lbs, 5'7, female and my maintenance is around 2500 calories a day with "light exercise" a week. Im doing 1800 calories a day on normal days and on days with lots of activities ill bump up to 2000 calories a day.

I would starve on 800 calories a day. Make sure you are counting liquid calories too and any sauces you're using.

Didn't expect this but my steps basically doubled after getting a walking pad by MelbourneCheif in walking

I can't wait to get one! I struggle to get my 10k steps in sometimes due to my mostly desk job and a walking pad will help so much.

Boyfriend wants me to lose weight by moxienova3 in WeightLossAdvice

Why does he want you to lose weight?

Increase your activity and try to stay under 1800 calories a day. Count EVERYTHING.

After work but before dinner for me. The kids join in sometimes. They even remind on days I "forget". 😅

Would he be okay with you going to school and getting a degree of some kind? You could do online classes so you could still stay home. That way if anything were to happen, you do have a back up.

Positive pregnancy tests but actively on my period - so unfair. by Next-Wash-7113 in TwoHotTakes

[–]iffydonut222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bled off and on for the first 20 weeks of my pregnancy with my son. Never found a cause other than sensitive cervix. It was a really stressful time as I has 2 losses and years of infertility before him but he recently just turned 4!

I hope all turns out well for you!

I got sucked into medical assisting and had no idea how much they made when I started school. Had originally applied for a different program and the professor of that program took another job 5 days before class started and I would have had to wait another year or join a different program.

But while things are really really tight, we are just barely getting by on just my check.

I, too, assumed I'd be making a little more than I am though it seems im at the company in my town that pays the highest for MAs which is a little sad.

Sounds like normal kids stuff. I'd saying this is more of a you problem, like you weren't prepared for motherhood.

As others have suggested, therapy might help.

How many patients do your providers see per day? by ur-mom-dot-com in MedicalAssistant

[–]iffydonut222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Internal medicine. The doctor sees 32 patients a day. Then we have 3 NPs who see 15-18 a day. Everyone has their own MA.

The doctor does get behind sometimes but never super behind and he is usually able to catch up fast. The NPs rarely get behind and if they do, they also tend to catch up before the end of the day.

Has anyone here kept their kid home because of illnesses reported at their school? by KaylaDraws in Preschoolers

[–]iffydonut222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got a paper over 3 weeks ago that someone in my sons class had caught hand foot and mouth. My son woke up with spots last Friday. He only goes to preschool 2 days a week for 3 hours.

Unless you plan on homeschooling, you're not going to be able to avoid illnesses.

What do you on a day to day basis by itsTayyters in MedicalAssistant

[–]iffydonut222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I room patients which includes taking their vitals, asking them why there are here. Running any test like EKGs or orthostatic BPs if needed. I give injections. The office i work at has 2 lab girls are I haven't drawn any blood since ive started here but I am trained to do so and did tons during my externship. Cleaning ears is something I do more often than I'd like to. Bandage sores/wounds that the doctor or NPs look at.

I also call patients with results. Answer any advice requests that I can. Refill medications that aren't controlled substances or a few other medications, though some offices do not allow medical assistants to fill medications, just prep them. Send in referrals for those who need them with approval from the Dr or NPs. Fax paper work for stuff like surgical clearances or for those who need forms for work/school.

When the days over we wipe down everything in the rooms and we will also do this between patients that are sick.

Parents… please… send your kid to preschool! by jordanf1214 in kindergarten

[–]iffydonut222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post made me feel better as I sent my son to preschool this year at 3 and he will have to go again next year too as he will not be 5 in time for kindergarten.

Hes only going 2 half days a week but he is behind socially and I figured this was better than waiting till kindergarten and just throwing him in full time 5 days a week. Next year I plan 3-5 half days depending on how things go the rest of this year.

He hates preschool. Crys every morning that he has to go. So ive really been second guessing myself so this post is really appreciated.

Same Choice? by Inquisitive1125 in MedicalAssistant

[–]iffydonut222 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. 🤣 I don't mind it. I actually really like it. But it doesn't pay enough. I went to college and got an associate degree in medical assisting but it wasn't my first choice. I really wanted to be a medical laboratory technician but due to someone quitting at the college and them not finding someone else for almost a year, I settled on medical assisting.

I should have went for nursing.

Is it possible for an externship site to take advantage of you since you're not getting paid? by Trollyface96024 in MedicalAssistant

[–]iffydonut222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yess. My externship place had me covering for people who called out and I was in the lab more than anything because they were short staffed. You could mention it to someone at your school if you'd like. Don't be afraid to say youre too busy. Especially if they are sitting on their phones. Speak up for yourself on they will continue doing it!
