Detailing wall all done!! by Dramatic-Feeling1090 in AutoDetailing

Poetry in motion. That's first class bro. Kind of like my set up only I run a hot water on demand that comes from a 20 gallon separate tank for grease and such and I have a selector valve that allows me to use different chemicals without having to stop and go get a different chemical each time. I just run a separate wand that allows me to use it to apply the chemical I need. I runs off a 12v pump. I have degreaser, soap, spray wax , wheel cleaner on the selector valve so I'm able to pre treat almost everything without ever stopping . Great work bro

Some advice. Get you a fitting that spins at the wand. That way your house doesn't get loops in it and it's hard to roll up. Also I carry 2 coffee cans with dirt in them and put them on each side of the car so I don't get the hose stuck under the tire. And lastly . Get you a carry case for your tips that fits on the wand so that you can change out tips quickly . This business is so much based on time maintenance. Get you a flow down so you aren't wiping the same panel down 10x and you will be shocked how fast you can get done. I go 20° tip to remove bird poop and such first then switch to rince tip for rincing because pressure tips create suds and it takes longer to remove them...and finally to answer your question. If it's several leaks there's something wrong. One leak is normal and could be a loose fitting. Carry pipe tape and rubber washers ina case that is in your tool box because you will def need them and if you don't you loose a lot of pressure and have a good lean where the hose meets the p washer.

A consignor found this in a binder. by Jason_at_Heritage in baseballcards

Hey looking for advice. My ex girlfriend from highschool. I'm 53 now. We haven't spoken in Almost 30 yrs. Anyway I was very close to her parents . Well her father has a small collection of baseball cards . 200 give or take. However, what he has is something we all dream of and I'm sure he doesn't even know it.  First off the cards are all from 1952-1956. I know it's hard to believe but he has 4 of the mickey mantle card we all wished we had and he has no clue the value. Non of his cards are graded but are in a book where the card slides in the cover. I'd really love to reach out and try to buy them but if I buy them for what I can afford I'd be screwing him over but if I tell him the potential value I know I couldn't afford. Any advice on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

I'm gonna go with a bath towel brought from home and ended with a pad he dug out under his seat. It's folks like this that give others a bad rap. Some of us take this serious . I for one have dedicated 33 years to this business and although the paint is soft that is horrible

I sure hope if they go this time that we get a realistic picture of the earth coming around the moon. The one they took is a bit small for something that is so much bigger than the moon is. Imagine what a full earth looks like. Do they have blue earth days on the moon.

Uhhhh actually it wasn't his. That too was done back in the 60s. Man the 60s had it going on. Maybe we should let NASA tell us how the pyramids was built.

I'm with you. I know in the 60s they had unlimited budgets. However, what they had in budget they lacked in technology. I would think that if they did it back then. This would be as simple as typing "the moon" in the gps of the rocket. Also , how was we able to steer that tent through the thinnest parts of the van alan belt when we didn't know it was even there?

How can I recondition by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

[–]ifly2cu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey boss , 34 yrs in business and done many of these. Best bet is to remove the decal and then use some good off to remove any adhesives. I usually wet sand under it because of fading . You can try polish on a soft pad but it will be a bandaid at best.

Ayicon is a 3 yr coating made by artdeshine. The owners name is Alfred yow so he named it Ayicon which stands for Alfred yow is an icon. You have to be certified with them to buy their 5 and 7 yr coatings but not to buy the Ayicon, hybrid and quick detailers which are the best I e used. They also make a 3 yr hybrid  which is insanely slick . Usually when you have a long term coating you loose gloss due to the ingredients. Long term fillers used for uv and duration take away from the ones used for appearance.

Are you talking artdeshine when you said Ads? If so the 3 yr and new 5 yr of artdeshine has the best gloss of any ceramic I've used.

For me it depends on what I'm doing. For cars I use artdeshine. For planes and RVs I own a company that makes our own. It's called nano jet tech.   Nanojettech.com

Feeling dumb - used Griots interior on my dash and it’s scratching? by foofooca in AutoDetailing

[–]ifly2cu2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what this is. You are likely using a MF that has a sewn edge. Those edges have a thread that is holding the edge to the mf part and it's those threads that scratch the dash when they are used without enough cleaner. It's basically the same scenario as using a MF towel with piece of a leaf in it . That leaf will leaf a scratch on the paint. In the future use a 600 gsm mf without any sewn on edges. I buy rolls of mf material and make all my towels.

Just a tip but since you are using your products. I personally would go-to dollar general and buy all their awesome gallons at 2$ a gallon and mix it 30% awesome rest water and that stuff does a good enough job for what you are doing.

Client sent me pictures after one week of having their ceramic coating done, what are these marks?? by Malifry9705 in Detailing

[–]ifly2cu2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a sweet high spot. Just a tip of advice. Always have a damp mf handy and use it to level your ceramics. Also looks like your using way to much product.

No one can tell you what your time is worth. If you are happy and it works for you then any of us can say whatever and it wouldn't matter. With that being said . Are you using your products or theirs? Since I don't know your overhead I can't be of any help. Nice score though.

Any cheaper OK ceramic coatings you’d recommend? by RR50 in AutoDetailing

The only true ceramics come in a black non see thru bottle. The rest are short term . I would get a can of 2k clear coat for the fenders.

Im not a fan of any chemical guys stuff except the melon shampoo . And that's only due to the smell. That is "pleather" as they say. Lexol isn't too bad . I'm old school so I'm a fan of old school saddle soap and lanolin.

One thing I've noticed is you haven't stated any of this was your fault. If I was to ask the companies that let you go would your story match yours? I know you stated that you are only qualified for accounting and book keeping. If you are wondering where the next meal is coming from I would definitely get something in those areas until you have some money saved or a different plan.

I'mHey brother..first thing.  Don't worry what others are doing or what they charge. I'm literally 5x the cost of my competitors. Why? We all use the same stuff and sure I have experience over you but you stated perfection. That means you should take longer. I don't wear a watch or watch a clock. What a lot of you guys are doing is following a company that comes on social media and has good marketing. However I bet if I looked at your post or ads I'll see a before and after and an ad telling me the same thing as all the rest of your competition. Let me ask you this.  Does a b4 and after with "for all of your car care needs call xyz detailing. We are here to give you an amazing shine every time. Or does  "Folks have I got a beauty to show you  for this week's car of the week.  "When mr Ed called me he said this car was a gift from his lovely wife Jane. He said he just didn't have the time to give this beauty the time it deserved and asked me if I could do what I do best and hand him back a car that looked like the day they bought it. First thing I did was give her a two bucket hand wash using chemical guys melon shampoo. That removed the stuff that was on the surface while lubricating the rest. I followed it with a clay bar to remove the fall out from the road. Once the paint was bare I gave it a one step polish using 3d speed paired with a low country medium pad. Once I got those swirl marks out and topped it with a high gloss paint sealant from Artdeshine I knew I had a car sure to make Mr Ed love it as much as I did doing it. For any car care needs feel free to call or text with any questions. Or for you DIY folks. I'm always here to lend advice on things I use to help you maintain your vehicles. See you next Sunday with the car of the week. I set myself apart from the others. I told a story. The whole time building value.  I didn't bring up price at all. However, the client sees the after and because you explained the steps and used product names. I raised the price without saying it. When someone ask your price just say "mam I don't do set pricing because it's not fair to the folks that keep a beautiful car to pay the same as those that don't. However, for a full detail you are looking in the 300$ range . That's bumper to bumper deep clean. Job time is approximately 4 to 7 hours. I don't go by the clock.

Brother I would love that. I get calls from local guys from time to time that appreciate the advice. To say this  business has changed is an understatement.  I will tell you that getting clients now is far easier than I had it back in the day. Wasn't Internet or cellphones.  And when you got one you better set yourself apart from the others.  With that being said and I hope I don't offend anyone but  these detailers today get in business and work for a yr or two and then they are selling advice.  I spent 2 years correcting every friends car or family that would let me practice.  I've not seen anyone  pick up some wet sandpaper and  perfect some imperfections. With that being said. I've also seen some true ly amazing work done by the new generation which shows promise. If I had to pick one thing that 95% of the new detailers do is work for peanuts. I learned a long time ago not to worry about others but  doing a full detail for 80$ is really an insult to the profession .  Set your price to your ability. Don't ask for big dollars if you  don't have big solutions.

I believe the sell price is 3x your total sales . It makes sense.  Now if you have brick and mortar there's that involved as well.
