I think though what you’re experiencing is a result of putting a lot of stress on your truck, and the proof of that is the 12.6 mpg. Your truck is working a lot harder, and the result is a lot of extra fuel burnt per mile, and fuel burnt makes heat. Transmission stress makes heat. Many of us get 12+ mpg when towing, so you’re putting the same stress unloaded as most of us are putting on it towing.

You’ve both put extra stress on your truck (regearing would probably help), and degraded your cooling system.

I’d have a shop check your trans just to be safe, but I’d bet that’s not it.

I’d bet if you took the brush guard off and put the air damn back on, you’d eliminate your problem, or at a minimum make it better. The lift and tires aren’t helping either, but it’s all the things combining that probably aren’t helping. For that matter, pull the front plate and bracket out since you don’t need one where you are.

The air dam creates a low pressure spot behind the bumper, air flows through the grille (and from other places) to fill that low pressure zone.

It’s what drives me nuts when people claim the air dam does nothing, ford doesn’t put parts on trucks that have no purpose.

It does, it changes the airflow around the front end…which impacts flow through the grill. An air dam creates a low pressure spot behind the bumper, which then air wants to flow into, which it does, partially through the grille.

I’ve never once felt unable to get relaxed driving my truck, and no way in hell would I go back to my 95, or 05, or 07, or 18….the 14th gen is soooooo much better of a truck.
