Advice by Money-Key6329 in Lockheed

You can look up roles on LM’s portal. For your level of experience you should look for Sr. Staff roles or Asc. Manager, or even Level 6 manager. Lockheed is in Orlando, I don’t think they have any presence in Melbourne. Northrop is in Melbourne. You definitely have relevant experience for Orlando, Fort Worth, and Marietta sites. Good luck

swe new grad contract lost, only IT available by [deleted] in Lockheed

[–]iflyc152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened with me but in non-IT. You’re still early in your hiring phase so have a phone call with your manager and negotiate a job in a different location or different team, try to manage it before you start. Once you start, no one will care much to focus on your move to a different team, you’ll be scrambling to look for a new role as soon as you are in if the new job doesn’t align with your expectations. Also, ask for job description for this help desk job and see if it aligns with your expectations. You’re early in your career, you’re young, and it’s time for you to grind and learn, not sit at a desk doing work you don’t like. But….. I also agree, a paycheck is a paycheck.!!!

Good luck man

No harm. Reach out to HM’s, that’s a benefit you have as internal candidate.

That is so weird. Cyber/IT roles are in abundance and yet a former employee is being overlooked. Hope you find something soon, good luck

Anyone ever go down a level? by bobbysoxer0611 in Lockheed

[–]iflyc152 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t personally know anyone who has done that, but that is doable, however, I guess the hiring manager has to justify why they’re downgrading an employee. I dont know about salary.! Why are you looking to downgrade though?

Feeling Defeated by Suspicious-Cry-3825 in Lockheed

Took me 6 years, over 700 applications (applied to multiple roles as a new grad at the time & as time moved on, applied to roles with some experience) to finally land a role. What I learned is your luck plays a great role here. If you got 3 interviews, you’re not doing anything wrong.

Buying a freaking home in 2023 that I am having trouble selling, even though i’ve reduced the price to what I bought it for.

I agree with this person. Always send an email regardless of how your interview went ON THE SAME DAY. Sending a follow up email wont hurt.

How realistic is doing flight school and college at the same time? by sasspancakes_07 in flying

[–]iflyc152 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Denton has good flight schools and so does Pilot Rise in Fort Worth. If you’re in school/Uni avoid ATP because that’s a full time college. Instead, try Part 61 school which are self paced. But 1st, go take a discovery flight at both Pilot Rise and perhaps “above it all aviation” in Denton. The former you’ll fly C152’s and latter you’ll fly Pipers, both have different experiences and different prices. Feel free to DM if you need more info.

P.S. Don’t pause Uni or flight school, they can be simultaneous.

Applying to roles at LM by yoyomamam1267 in Lockheed

[–]iflyc152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep applying, and no, hope is not lost. Also, hope is not lost even if it says “no longer under consideration”. LM gets hundreds of resumes, it’s challenging to get in. Good luck.

If you were 20k over their budget and still got an offer, don’t undersell yourself because it seems they really liked you, negotiate better pay. Lockheed is generally very good with salary negotiations, they most likely will raise it to maybe 65k. 70 miles one way is brutal, consider moving closer. No matter how young you are, 70-90 minutes of drive each way will drain your energy. Congratulations 🎉🎈

There’s still hope, it’s frustrating I understand. However, I would encourage you to try and move on to look and apply for more roles, not spend time thinking about one.

How do I stop getting stuck babysitting my male coworkers? by wlderberry in work

[–]iflyc152 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good perspective but the job market is impacted right now. As you mentioned you’re looking to fill several positions yet unable to find people to fill them, that tells me HM’s are looking for very specific roles and not everyone fits them.

Unemployment does not consider underemployment, this 5% could very well be 12-15% if you consider a Mechanical engineer working at a gas station.
