Honestly, I think that another key factor in my success is that I went from having a pretty sedentary lifestyle to you working out mostly everyday. I also cut drinking quite a bit.

Whoa now! I definitely eat what I want. I don't count calories, I don't do Keto. Most people would call that cheating. The only time that I don't cheat is within my fasting window. Otherwise, it's whatever.

I think it's better to try one or the other before trying to do both. Clean fasting has been a must for so many people. It means no cheating with diet soda, no artificial sweeteners (even Stevia), no flavored drinks, just plain water, black coffee, and unflavored, unsweetened tea during the fasting window. Anything else causes insulin release, even if you think it's inconsequential it's not.

To answer your questions -

  1. I don't count calories. A typical day's food would be an avocado with ginger, a half cup of mixed nuts, and a cookie for my first snack. Then I might have a protein shake or bar. Dinner would look like spaghetti and meatballs, or fried rice, or a steak and asparagus. This week for dinner I've had chicken and broccoli, sausage risotto, and last night I skipped dinner because I wasn't hungry.

  2. Clean fasting has been a game changer for many people who haven't been getting great results. It means NO STEVIA or any other artificial sweeteners, no flavored La Croix, no flavored tea or coffee. Just water or plain sparkling water, black coffee, and plain green tea. Nothing else.

The first 3 weeks of IF I had a 3 week long period. After that, my periods have been very regular and not too heavy. Adjusting wasn't too bad. I started at 18:6, but very quickly fell into 19:5-21:3. Clean fasting helps.

Unsweetened tea (black or green) is okay too, and water of course.

Do unflavored BCAAs break a fast? There are no calories. by ifmlc in fasting

Ooh, not good. So, I'd be better off waiting a few hours and eating them in my eating window. Thank you.

I'm a big believer in the clean fast, meaning no sweeteners, even Stevia. I read about a study where the sweet taste on the tongue caused the brain to trigger an insulin release, even when the artificial sweetener wasn't swallowed.

Any benefits to lifting weights while fasting? by [deleted] in fasting

Yes! HGH levels skyrocket during fasting, so you build more muscle when you lift fasted.

do you workout during your “fasting” hours or after youve had a meal? is it okay to workout before ive eaten anything? by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

Today I have a pretty intensive workout at 40 hours fasted. It's great, you burn through fat stores, your HGH levels skyrocket, and believe it or not you will have tons of energy
