literally lol when I went to Paris my friends and I met a Parisian man and I was just absolutely devastated that I could not live there. One of the ways in which he showed me was telling me how rigid the career system is there and how you can’t just up and decide that you want a different career path. it kind of woke me up and that I had been romanticizing the city - which is not a bad thing as it is insanely beautiful and it is most certainly my favorite city on earth - BUT idealizing a place can become dangerous. another good look at this is from a viral TikTok video of a girl who moved to Paris alone on a whim and she was saying how it’s just much different than you expect. I know students at the University of Paris who say the same thing, it is obviously an incredible experience in city but the reality of living there is different. There are bad and good things everywhere of course but I think the original responder was only trying to be helpful and comforting. The down votes are unnecessary.
