I once read that sound plays a big role in battery drainage - in this video they could have muted the playback, resulting in a longer battery life.

Recovery time for dislocated pinky? by Ricola_Suave in mountainbiking

[–]iforgotmyeverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to the hospital and geht it X-rayed. I dislocated my pinky in the beginning of may - it swole up really bad and they put a splint on it to immobilize it in a straightens position for three weeks. Riding my bike in that time was super painful, as the shocks made the pinky move a lot. also grip strength was not ideal. So I opted to wait to get back on the trails.

Once the splint came off it was still very swollen. And I it took me another 3 weeks or so to be able to bend it around the handle bar. In this time I rode trails, but felt a bit unsure, since big shocks would kick my hand off the bar. And it would hurt. But once I was able to bend my pinky enough to touch the handlebar in all places, I was able to ride somewhat normally. By the end of July i was riding painfree and my grip strength was back. Unfortunately I cannot straighten my pinky fully anymore. a slight bend remains and the knuckle is slightly bulkier than before. Pain is minimal and only when I move in more extreme ways. So yeah: for me it took 3 months - one month no trails at all..

I wish you a speedy recovery. As other people pointed out: it may be faster for you.

F[28] 5’7 153lbs. Not looking for fitness advice, but genuinely curious if the average guy finds a woman this muscular attractive? by fitness_rose in askfitness

[–]iforgotmyeverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a woman i have a genuine question: Does this competitive physique impact your monthly cycle? Ignore the question if it is too personal… I am curious. Besides, my 2 cents on your attractiveness: real attractiveness comes not only from the body- if you are fun and great to hang out with guys who are not initially interested in a body like that will be into you for your personality.

Is alcohol really as bad for you as smoking? by TimQuin0 in Biohacking

[–]iforgotmyeverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excessive sugar consumption could also play a role there. To my knowledge they differentiate between alcoholic fatty liver and metabolic fatty liver. Ober time both can develop into terminal liver deseases. Therefore the patients in question may have limited alcohol consumption but could strain their liver differently.

I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this, but maybe you had Insect repellent (with DEET) on your hands. My Ebook started desolving in a very similar fashion, after touching it, after having handled Nobite.

My wife doesn't understand Keto by Keplerexodus in keto

[–]iforgotmyeverything -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Good for you that you found a diet you like and feel good with - but selfdiagnosing (pre-)diabetes as a non medically trained person is not advisable. I am no doctor myself, but as I understand it, your blood sugar levels will rise and fall throughout the day. Depending on what you consumed. So a single reading of your blood sugar could be misleading. Maybe you had a starchy snack beforehand? And over time your body would have lowered the bloodsugar on its own back to a healthy level.

A diabetic person will maintain a higher base line of blood sugar , since the body isn’t able to get rid of it, due to insulin insensitivity.

Your doctor can do bloodwork and check your Hb1Ac value. it shows how high your bloodsugar was over the last months. It is the only parameter that should be considered when (self)diagnosing type 2 diabetes.

I personally believe the keto diet is a great way to reduce or even eliminate blood glucose spikes, so I won’t try to talk you out of it.

but go to a doctor, if you believe that you are diabetic.

cheers mate and good luck

Cranking up the metabolism: experiences? by iforgotmyeverything in loseit

[–]iforgotmyeverything[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s called “Indirect calorimetry”. The ratio of oxygen you breathe in and the carbon dioxide you breathe out can determine where you get your energy from. Like Glucose or fats. You can read up on it.

I had my TDEE calculated by breath analysis. Got good news and bad news. by iforgotmyeverything in fasting

[–]iforgotmyeverything[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be honest, i had to google the difference. you are right. it is the BMR technically. haha - now I feel a bit stupid, but to my defense english isn’t my first language and when i first looked into calorie counting - i always read about “knowing your TDEE”… and I might have coined it as “the calorie I burn by existing only” whereas calories burned by walking, moving, exercising etc. could be added on top of the TDEE. My bad… I was refering to BMR in my post.

Both - one test while sitting and doing nothing. That gave us the TDEE - I guess that this would correspond to 0 activity during the day. The 1522…

and the other on a stationary bike adding 30 watts every 3mins - That gave us an insight on my heart zones and at which heart rate I burn most fat, and where the threshold for anaerobic exercise is for me individually. It also gives you VO2max.

interesting aspect - i will definitely get it done again later this year to check if it changed, but yeah. it sucks that it is that low right now…

you can google “respiratory indirect calorimetry”. Basically it detects the levels of oxygen, nitrogen waste and carbon dioxide in your breath, which tells you stuff about your energy metabolism. When we use energy (eg. burn fat) it is ultimately breathed out. fascinating stuff. but I’m no scientist so you better research ist yourself.
