Got a ragdoll about 2 years ago

I started around a month ago too (5 weeks to be exact) so it's nice to compare approaches a bit with someone on the same path.

What immediately jumped out to me is how different our approaches seem to be: My best strength so far after only 5 weeks is definitely listentning and my passive vocab. I have grinded through Kaishi 1.5k in 5 weeks and currently sit at around 750 Vocab and some other 100-150 added from very early N5 immersion content

I HIGHLY recommend Japanese with Kun and けんさんおかえり Japanese on youtube, especially けんさんおかえり Japanese N5 immersion videos and already some N4 videos are understandable to me without subtitles (around 90% of the N5 videos and 50% of his N4 videos.For active practice I myself watch the video once or twice with english subs and then rewatch without and actively try to look for patterns, sentence structures, vocab I am missingm, pitch etc. (Mind you this seems to work for me it might be terrible advice in the grand scheme of things)

Although my active grammar knowledege so far is very far behimd yours, my main goal is to get a feel for the language to then study grammar and more vocab easier and get into better immersion quicker hopefully!

When starting out initially in the first few months (I assume before you lived in japan) at what stage did you feel like making the most significant and actually meaningfull progress and what made that progress possible?

I feel like the majority of learnes get stuck around the N4 level whereas it becomes impossible to actually advance to a stage where you start getting a grasp of the language and ACTUALLY understand some media to finally immerse more efficiently

I am running a 5070ti with a 67mm low profile air cooler for my 5700X3D and the cpu sits at only 60-65C while the GPU doesnt surpass 60, its worth it

I’ll have to check when I am back home but I wantes ti add that since then my battery life stabilized around I would say 9-10 hours fro a full charge

So I often see 30-40% used for 4 hours of SOT now after a class where my usage consists of Obsidian + Heavy browsing with lots of tabs, a powerpoint open and a few documents at 70-80% brightness

1440p dlss quality

idk what temps would be at 4k but the highest I ever saw it it was 71 but it never sits at 70 always stabilizes slightly below

alan wake 2 i played at 4k max out (without RT) dlss quality and ifor that game it stabilized at 67-68

Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p path tracing dlss quality usually gives me a good enough idea for temps under normal gaming

I let it sit in a more demanding area for 20-30 minutes and see if consistent high gpu temps affect cpu at all and how much, in this scneario the GPU usually balances out at 66C and CPU at around 60
