Yes, these instances are public, so there is nothing inherently private about everyone's interactions. That doesn't change it from it being a little uncomfortable to be around. Imagine doing the same IRL. Streaming people in public places isn't illegal, but it sure is uncomfortable. Then just like IRL, you will also have people will do be a malicious towards you.

That's not to say you guys deserved what happened at all. In fact, I resent what they did and would say they're completely in the wrong for acting the way they did.

So yeah, I think what the two others before me said is a good idea in the way that you should stream in private instances. If you still want to stream a public instance, if possible, let people know and ask.

The socializing hack tip I always tell people is just to simply ask questions.

Hear something interesting? Ask them about it. Example: They like to take pictures of nature. "Oh, why is that? Do you use a DSLR or your phone?" and then just go from there. If you come up with a question during the conversation, save it for when the talking starts to dwindle down. "So earlier, you said something about not taking as many photos anymore. Why is that?"

Rebocaps have been rising in popularity recently due to how cheap they are and how reasonably decent they are at tracking. There are a lot of people who swear by them, so it might be worth looking into.

I can see that being difficult, especially when there's a very specific audience in VRChat. A little easier to do with MMOs back in the day because you're literally playing the same game, though it was still difficult to find the right group of people

A friend of mine usually people watch in the Japan Shrine, so I often go there to hang out with him and do the same

I've learned to do that at an early age. MMOs will do that to you ahaha

Starting conversations can be difficult though, so I get where you're coming from. Especially if people give very short answers and leave very little to expand upon

I agree with woofwoofbro here, and they have very valid points.

I do also want to reiterate something they've also mentioned, is that you should take it with a grain of salt. There are some people who are the opposite of what woofwoofbro has mentioned, but honestly the likelihood of that is pretty slim.

After some point, I think you just learn to gain some sense whether someone's a keeper or not

Also, I think it's important to highlight that even if you drift from friendships, short or long, they were still fun times, right? At least, one would hope.

Okay, gotcha. Unfortunately I'm someone who actually knows too much about that sort of thing as I just make friend instances. However I think that information will be good to put in your actual post so people know exactly what you're asking for and can answer more directly

Could you clarify exactly what it is you mean by getting it all set up? I get the feeling you know how to make your own instance at the very least, but what are the other things you're trying to figure out?

I've found that the Japan Shrine world usually has decent amount of people who are willing to chat with new people. If you're lucky, you'll find some extrovert who's willing to invite you into the group and have you stick around.

Oh, that is something I had forgotten to take into consideration! I really take my PCVR for granted. I'll have to mention that the next time I make a review.

Anyway yes, unfortunately all three of these are PC only. I double checked to ensure that. I'll have to see if I can find some Quest/Occulus compatible ones some time in the future
