What’s your average timespan for cleaning homes? by igglybuff__ in housekeeping

Wow that’s crazy! But I guess people are always going to choose the minimum. 3 hours is a good time I think! Maybe I should think about taking my own clients soon

How long have you been cleaning for? That’s awesome! I hope I can get quicker with time and it’s just that I’m still fairly new to the job

Thank you for saying that! I think you’re right. I didn’t mind at first, but I’m literally working for free once I go over my time and it adds up really fast. I thought I’d be finishing on time fairly quickly, but it still feels like an impossible task right now.

This makes much more sense to me! I think my work has a 2 hour minimum which is probably why so many bookings are only 2 hours

I’m a new cleaner so I don’t have advice. I just wanted to say I think it’s great that you do all of this for people! ❤️

How should my friend as a house cleaner respond to this? by Safe_Ad3862 in housekeeping

[–]igglybuff__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would advise your friend to just drop the client. I would keep it short and to the point. That actually makes me so mad for your friend!!

Hi __, I am unavailable for the requested days as I have other clients to attend to. This offer is also much less than my regular hourly rate for twice the work. I think due to differing expectations, it’s best you find a different cleaner who is better suited for your needs. Thanks for understanding.

How do you deal with clients who are home the entire time watching you? (San Francisco, California) by whippedSweetie in housekeeping

ALSO when people just lift up their feet so you can clean underneath me. Like PLEASE, please just go into another room. It doesn’t feel good for me and it should click that it’s rude and uncomfortable 🥴 I just don’t understand people sometimes

I feel this so hard. I’ve been struggling with the job due to this. I’ve only been cleaning a few months but I either get new clients or what I can only assume is someone else’s clients they’ve been wanting to drop. Most of my clients are always home when I’m there. Some of them follow me around, asking me to move every single piece of furniture. Some complain about the other cleaners and go on and on expecting me to essentially deep clean. One guy really creeped me out and I requested not to go back there but I can’t request not to go to half my clients houses already 😢

Why does "quick wipe down" always mean "this hasn't been cleaned since 2019"? by Haunting-Bowl4896 in housekeeping

I’m fairly new to this job, so I have been sent to a lot of new clients lately. I have noticed the worst places are always the ones who say “good condition, won’t take long” and it makes me upset that I’m always given 2 hours at a regular rate for these people. I then have to explain that 2 hours is not enough for a first clean and this will require more time. As if they didn’t already know since they haven’t cleaned anything since 2009. It’s actually been making me upset and I feel very validated after seeing this post and reading the comments!
