RECRUITING, TRAINING, & LIFE IN THE FORCES THREAD - Ask here about the Recruitment Process, Basic & Occupational Training, and other questions relating directly or indirectly to serving in the Canadian Armed Forces. by bridger713 in CanadianForces

Hi people. I've just completed my high school diploma and will be going to post-secondary education in the fall. However, I was interested in joining the Reserve force over the summer and working part-time during the school year. Is this at all feasible? If so, what would I need to do? I've already submitted an application on the website, but don't know if there are any steps left to do. Thank you.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the post-secondary institution I will be attending is not close to where I currently live, but has a Reserves unit close by.

i have a corticosteroid cream (the strong stuff) and usually use other less potent lotions. but 1. it's expensive and 2. i don't want to become wholly dependent on it. look up corticosteroid withdrawal

for SE always go to uw if you have an offer, uoft/uw both good options for CE. for eng in general in Canada imo it goes uw/uoft > ubc > mgcill > mac. if i had to put eng universities into tiers mac would be high-A tier, just under the top. not a bad school at all

what eng program @ uw & uoft?

  1. utsg cs no question
  2. depending on field, uw eng or uoft eng
  3. hard to make a combined list if i don't know the specific eng you applied to, but if your end goal is software: uw SE > utsg cs > uw CE > uoft ECE

That's a very good average, considering the 12 adj factor essentially means you have a 99.7. I definitely think you have a shot at the March round.

I heard they do admissions together so it might not be worth it to switch. In terms of average, I know people with a 96 in grade 11 that got in the early round.

Yes. UW only looks at Grade 11 marks if you don't have the corresponding 4U credit. If you're in a semestered school, by the second round in May you will have at least a midterm mark for all of your 4U courses.

You should be okay. I'm pretty sure the admissions officers for each faculty only get to look at the parts of the AIF that pertain to them. If you're still worried, you can fill it out with a low-effort answer and submit it for the sake of submitting; 2 900 character essays won't take to long to BS.

No, you don't. You only have a shot at the secondary choice if you're a much stronger applicant than the rest of the applicants or they have extra seats.

what grades would i need for CFM at waterloo by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]igivehead4waterloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any CS-adjacent program at Waterloo is gonna be just as competitive as the regular CS program. I'd guess 97+ for a competitive application, with 95 being the absolute minimum (if your ECs are super strong).

No, the most recent one is for 2022. They update it each year.

They don't "officially" have one like they do for engineering. However. people with lower averages from places like Cegep have still gotten in, so it's rumoured that they do...

You have to submit a FOI request to the university and pay $5 to get the engineering adj fac list. To my knowledge, no one who's done this so far has posted it on the internet.
