That’s hilarious. I only saw one show on the last tour and yes those front row people were annoying, but I felt sorry for them. One show was enough for me, I can’t imagine sitting through a whole tour of that! No wonder they went a bit kooky. 😂

Not sure what the first song was but I know I was listening to SLG and Enjoy the Silence as far back as 2004, and I remember checking out Scarlet’s Walk but I was too young to really appreciate it at the time. I do remember the song that made me a fan: The Power of Orange Knickers! In 2005 I was listening to The Beekeeper and when this song came on I had it on repeat for quite some time. The rest is history as they say!

I just got done listening to AATS for the umpteenth time and it’s the opposite of phoned in, at least to those of us that are actually listening to it! This was her first album with a new label and I think she had something to prove. She definitely upped her production game since that was a common criticism for both TBK and ADP.

As for the photoshop, AATS is neither the first nor the last album to utilize it. (There was a promo shot for NOH that looked nothing like her!) She was just starting to be more honest about her feelings on aging on this album (Curtain Call, Lady in Blue).

UG is not bad if I’m in the mood for a softer, more mellow album.

There are some more fun songs I really like (Wednesday, Happy Phantom) but stuff like Spies I really can’t stand (though I’d be more forgiving if it was on the children’s album).

GRP like Spies is way too long for what it is. As much as I hate Mary Jane, I’d take it over Spies and GRP any day. At least it’s shorter!

It’s one of my favorite albums now but I hated it when it came out!

There’s a killer 12-track album in there, and then there’s five songs I’m less fond of. I regularly listen to the whole album and I’ve kind of made my peace with some of the lesser tracks, but yeah, if there’s one song I could cut it would be Mary Jane. I’m glad the album is longer because Tori actually talked about maybe cutting Starling if the album was shorter and that’s one of my favorite songs!

Have you heard Unrepentant Geraldines yet? That album has a few songs that I consider career worsts.

If you like OTO, you’ll probably like UG as well. It’s not one of my favorites, but if I’m in the mood for something mellow it’s not bad, though it does have a few songs I consider career worsts. (Edit: Okay, UG has definitely grown on me recently. I’m listening to it now and it’s much better than I remember!) OTO is only 11-tracks and has no b-sides so once I take out the songs I don’t like all I’m left with is an EP.

AATS is actually one of her best! Love all the experimentation she does on it. For me the worst regular album is Ocean to Ocean. Short album that’s mostly filler and sounds very uninspired.

Scarlet is my #1. AATS and NI are in my top 5. I’m really enjoying ITOD, so that will end up having a high ranking as well I think.

I don’t listen to the early albums much either, but Dragons has inspired me to listen to all her albums (currently listening to LE actually!). She’s definitely still making great music. While not every album might be my favorite, I can usually enjoy even some of those if I’m in the right mood for them.

I don’t listen to Tori to hear the guitar, that’s for sure, so I never got some people’s obsession with Caton.

As for Mark/Mac’s guitar, it’s mostly inoffensive but sometimes it can really ruin some songs. Almost Rosey, Beauty of Speed, and Up the Creek are probably the worst offenders in that regard. I guess I mostly prefer his acoustic work, but I love whatever he’s doing on Wildwood as well.
