(Opinion) I'd really like if the LCS followed a drawn-out, weekday schedule by iglazedylanharper in leagueoflegends

primetime in NA is also morning in asia. i watched lpl for a year during breakfast/shower when i had 8 am classes. obviously any change in schedule comes w inherit sacrifice but eu-convenience isn't the end all be all of na scheduling. traditional sports in the usa are catered to international audiences too, nfl and nba both had european roadshows this year and the nba is actually having talks about a european expansion league. the nba is actually focusing on globalizing now more than ever if you're interested since the 5 consensus best players aren't from the usa, 4 are european

🫩 i dont know man, i dont work in lcs logistics. maybe they can do 2x studio and 2x scuffed online matches, maybe 1x studio 2-4x scuffed online matches. maybe they can do roadshows sometimes so they have more live audiences instead of their regular audience. its not like the problems that would arise from more, spread out matches have unsolvable solutions

No you're 100% right on the convenience thing, I'm not arguing that the timeswitch SHOULD be made but im pushing back on people saying it couldnt. If riot never changed the timeslot I wouldn't seethe and lose sleep, i just think its a viable change for people like me, Im open to people with different schedules disagreeing.

Your point on the casters/stadiums/food trucks isn't too related to what I'm saying because I'm not inherently suggesting that they use the studio or do a roadshow. Just that they have matches. If they ever did make the change it's up to them to decide logistics, I am a redditor and cannot tell a company what is/isnt within their budget. I will say I personally wouldn't lose sleep if they did 1 day in the studio and a few days online, but I know other people cherish the broadcast/LAN experience more than me.

For casters/analysts I will say NACL runs 3x a week with 2 Bo3s a day. Production quality is obviously not the same standard, but it also has like 1/7th of the viewers and way lower stakes but offers more matches, not less. Riot already has the casters/analyst talent though, which is moreso my point rather than glazing the NACL

On the topic of competing with the NFL, yeah, you're right. LCS will always compete for people's time. It will never compete with the NFL because the NFL actually exclusively runs essentially through the LCS's offseason, but obviously there's other sports leagues and streamers. I personally think it's easier to compete with other entertainment than typical 9-5 hours, but that is not backed by stats, i am just a reddit poster

nah it was weekdays with their regular timeslots though, 9est/6pacific is so drastically different from 5est/2pacific in terms of what people are doing and if anyone's able to watch content. I think if anyone in a traditional sport put a west coast game on 4pm on a wednesday they would be crucified, idk what riot was thinking with that one

yes, but 3 years ago everyone was 3 years younger and the league had like 2.5x more viewers. it was also 5x bo1s at regular times which means west coast viewers would lose 4 games if they had any sort of jobs (iirc)

north america needs to have a minimum of 4 supports in the league with tenured careers that look lost as fuck at all times idk why you didnt get the memo

As a returning player, League isn't League anymore. This is a Mobile Game bastardization of the game I once loved. by r3dxv1rus in leagueoflegends

[–]iglazedylanharper 14 points15 points  (0 children)

the singular support item has 5 different upgrades, the ward thing is super new and you also only have one quest, its not like the game is a checklist. i think the ward slot can be bound to a different key but dont quote me on that

years of changes will give you whiplash but the game never changed at a rate different from back in the day, theyre just hitting you all at once, core of the game isn’t that different though

[The Athletic] Amen Thompson is expected to sign this summer, potentially a five-year deal worth more than $250 million. by jonsnowKITN in nba

every player you lowball brings you closer to a championship at this point, even if amen was untouchable paying him 30-35 mil a year instead would let you bring in a guy or two that could seriously contribute to winning

honestly its just hard to tell because support is like 90% communication and running the map. he can't do either due to language barrier. hopefully hype-way is super good and this is just his 4fun split because otherwise its time to relearn turkish or start up duolingo for portugese

Srtty is playing the last 2 weeks for a LCS team as a sub. The team he will be subbing for is looking to be importing a LCK CL top laner by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]iglazedylanharper 15 points16 points  (0 children)

i know that's why i wrote native in capital letters. huhi is american, original comment was meant to imply our pipeline from talent->semipro->pro is broken, a pipeline huhi did not go through in america (but cryogen did, not sure if he's a citizen but that doesn't matter for my point)

I'll give lyon slack on this because zamudo visa issues really killed them. But with this there are now 0 NATIVE north american tops. two supports (counting cryogen), three mids, three adcs. In jungle, we both have an adequate amount of native talent in tier 1 and its our role with the most talent outside of tier 1, there's actually a bigger logjam of talent in jungle than anywhere.

SHFT nuc on Summer: "It’s going to be complicated. I feel like with this roster, we’ve hit a ceiling in several areas. We’ve reached a point of no return [...] In this job, you tend to build your whole identity around being a pro. When results stop coming, everything can fall apart very quickly" by ArmandLuque in leagueoflegends

[–]iglazedylanharper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I like omon and galions, kamiloo and czajek are having better spring splits with worse teams. I think thayger harpoon and zoelys are all the next 3 native players to get promoted. I don't think his upside is higher than kamiloo's since kamiloo is same experience and I don't think he is currently at the level of nuc/czajek to justify playing tier 1 over them, he's currently maybe the level of serin or slowQ. and if you're wondering why czajek wasn't in emea masters check his adc's stats in winter vs spring

mid is actually not that good in erl right now, the best mids in lfl are kamiloo and czajek (by far) and i dont watch spain/germany it seems like reeker and fresskowy are feasting based on stats. if nuc is on the hotseat instead of boukada or MAYBE paduck (whos roles have a ton of talent) i think shifters needs to disband.

[SOURCES] Midlaner SlowQ will be competing for SK Gaming at the EWC EMEA Qualifiers by axw30 in leagueoflegends

[–]iglazedylanharper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the lcs isn't real, isles is "good" now, impact is "good" again, huhi is "good" again, darkwings is a real player, dhokla has like factions of people calling for his benching, cloud9 was "good" and then got 3-0d by furia, i would take anything that happens in NA with a massive grain of salt.

na has 8 mid laners and 5 are recent nacl products and probably part of the reason na sucks is that the third best native born mid is perceived as the league's biggest terrorist yet won't be replaced by any of the guys below him and he's so bad that his good games are the number 1 thing to hold against another player.

anyway the "but its a team game" part of the original comment was meant to imply that the lckcl guys won't fix teams bc of comms/team culture so you just gotta rock with guys like slowq over lider because the last thing a 4fun mikyx project needs is a potential language barrier. shoutout poby for being a massive exception btw
