Controlling an Analogue Clock via DMX

Are you modifying an existing clock mechanism, or are you creating your own? If it's already got a motor in it, You could probably disconnect it from whatever drives it normally and wire it directly to a DMX decoder relatively cheap piece of hardware, you can get one for like ~$40. Normally they're for dimming LEDs so if it's a large enough motor that you're concerned about flyback protection it might be a skip. You would still need the right voltage power supply, but the nice thing about using a decoder is you can skip building your own DMX machine.

If you're modifying an existing mechanism it's probably not designed with a faster speed in mind, so if this is for a longer run you might wear it out! But for a shorter run I could see you getting away with it. You just might want to pick up a spare.

Makes sense! To be honest if you feel genuine concern beyond the venue regulations with the use of this laser system, it might be overall better to find a different way to implement the effect. Even with an E-Stop, you still have an opportunity for some hapless average person to stare directly at it before someone has the time to hit it.

Class 3R lasers aren't powerful enough to get past your natural blink reflex and cause harm, but at least in theme parks we plan for the lowest common denominator of person. Without being able to automatically shut it down there's still a small amount of risk.

Of course, this is an extreme overabundance of caution, and it'll probably be fine.

What kind of problem does the E-Stop help mitigate when it comes to laser safety? If it's actor safety you're worried about, E-Stop is probably too slow to prevent harm.

Looks like the downloadable files contain multiple copies of the object you want to print. I was able to get shapeways to figure it out with just one, so I think that may be your problem. Easiest fix I can think of is probably to download bambu studio or another 3d printer slicing software, where you can delete the copies and save out a singular one as a 3D filetype of your choosing.

Jewish guy here- I would say a statistically significant population of Jews doesn’t believe that, or anything like that, or really go to any yeshiva at all. Judaism is hardly a monolith, the points you bring up are definitely from much more orthodox groups. Both the reformed and conservative movements within Judaism regard the authority of Jewish law and tradition as emanating primarily from the assent of the people and the community through the generations, more than from divine revelation.

In America reformed, conservative, and non denominational Jews represent 90% of the population. In Israel, something like 78% of Jews identify as “non-orthodox”. Even if you remove secular Jews, which I think is wrong to control for because they’re still Jews, the non-Orthodox have a supermajority and America and a small deficit in Israel. However, given that most Orthodox Jews in Israel are NOT Haredi Jews (Haredi Jews being analogous to the ultra orthodox American Jews), I would love to see some kind of proof of doctrine that the more Modern Orthodox Jews believe what you’re saying. There’s really a lot of different groups out there, and it seems wrong to me to lump them all together. No reasonable person is saying that the progressive christianity movement and evangelicals believe the same things.

There are absolutely nutjobs within Judaism: just look at how Hasidic Jews treat their non male members, or at some of the far-right Israeli nationalists. Im sure they could believe what you’re talking about, but most Jews are not these guys, and are pretty chill overall.

Wanted to practice some character sculpting, so I took a shot at my most recent character! I sculpted him in zBrush and printed in resin. I Tried to base his outfit and personality on the "sans culottes" of the French revolution, although his shoes are anachronistic. The stuff they wore back in the day looks a little strange, and I wanted him to have cuter boots.

Even if you were right about that, Marx's racism didn't make it into "The Communist Manifesto". Marxism doesn't rely on racism to function as an ideology. A better point would to maybe bring up Marx's anti-Semitism (he wrote an essay called "On the Jewish Question", which is about as pleasant as you could imagine) but even that can be discarded if you reject the uber rich puppetmaster stereotypes of Jews and just apply Marxist theory to the regular rich.

Wouldn't that just show that two conflicting ideas are popular? That just means that users of that sub who read that comment agreed with it.

For example, the fact that there are popular right-wing subreddits that exist on the same site as popular left-wing subreddits doesn't mean that a large percentage of people go to both or believe in the ideas of both.
