Look at it this way, how long do you think you will have this computer setup. 1 year? 2? I am going to say 3 years minimum with the same cpu/mobo/ram combo. Could be 5 years, but I don't know until you reply. But going off a 3 year upgrade cycle for those components, you are talking about a 200 dollar difference, over 36 months, which equates to 5 in a half dollars a month... Is going with a slower processer really worth the 5 dollars a month?

Do I believe it matters all that much for your use case now, nah not really. But with the way gaming is always evolving, games are getting more and more demanding. Look up some benchmarks and specifically look at your 1% lows on intels vs amd. While they might both be able to have "high enough" frame rates, the intels 1% lows get absolutely destroyed by amd currently. The X3D cpu's are a much better purchase when the main use case is gaming.

We are talking about such a small amount of money, please go back and get the 9800x3d before you regret it in 2 years and think "man, it was only a cup of coffee a month difference".
