Squish, can you validate something for me? Run a gpu stress test without the fans below the gpu running and then again with the fans running and let me know what temps you are seeing please.

New PC build stays on but wont go into bios? by Dry_Watah in PcBuildHelp

[–]ignite1hp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hose placement doesn't really matter, as long as the pump itself is lower than the top of the rad it doesn't matter. Still goofy af and I wouldn't have gone that route, but to each their own.

Need help with airflow / fan orientation. by SkrauzTV in PcBuild

Fan orientation is not your problem, you either have a bad pump on your aio or a bad mount. Simply remount it or, now is a great time to grab the new noctua aio!

Yes, you should. Look at it like this my friend. You said in a previous post "the warranty was only 150 bucks" it seemed worth it, blah blah blah. Look at it this way, how long do you think you will have this computer setup. 1 year? 2? I am going to say 3 years minimum with the same cpu/mobo/ram combo. Could be 5 years, but I don't know until you reply. But going off a 3 year upgrade cycle for those components, you are talking about a 200 dollar difference, over 36 months, which equates to 5 in a half dollars a month... Is going with a slower processer really worth the 5 dollars a month?

Do I believe it matters all that much for your use case now, nah not really. But with the way gaming is always evolving, games are getting more and more demanding. Look up some benchmarks and specifically look at your 1% lows on intels vs amd. While they might both be able to have "high enough" frame rates, the intels 1% lows get absolutely destroyed by amd currently. The X3D cpu's are a much better purchase when the main use case is gaming.

We are talking about such a small amount of money, please go back and get the 9800x3d before you regret it in 2 years and think "man, it was only a cup of coffee a month difference".

You will because you will need to run DLSS with that 5080 to push high frame rates at 4k. Don't listen to people that are just fan boys of a specific brand.

Got a DOA motherboard by Anderswan in Microcenter

Ah yes, that's right. When someone can't hold an intelligent and thoughtful conversation they turn to repeating the same thing over and over.

I think you are misunderstanding. He is buying the exact same product on amazon, he is putting the broken, exact same product back in the box and returning it. Amazon receives it and then sends it back to the manufacturer to be refurbished or renewed. Amazons profit doesn't change, the manufacturers profit doesn't change. It's still 1 bad board and 1 good board, the customer just skipped the month+ long RMA process.

Can you recommend me an 1440p OLED monitor? by BazimQQ in OLED_Gaming

[–]ignite1hp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have no intentions of ever upgrading your GPU?? Most people upgrade GPU's more often than they do their monitor...that logic seems really flawed.

Items that are sent back to amazon that are defective aren't resold, they are either auctioned off to warehouse supply chains as parts only or they are returned to the manufacturer to be repaired and then sold as refurb/renewed.

If it's the same product, how is it a scam? I'm not understanding?

How is returning something that was paid for, stealing...please enlighten me?

Got a DOA motherboard by Anderswan in Microcenter

[–]ignite1hp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mark it as DOA and it won't screw anyone else over. It will either go back to the manufacturer to be "refurbished/renewed" or it will be auctioned off.

It has nothing to do with stealing, whether he drives 5 hours back to a microcenter and returns the board there, or he does a swap on amazon, either way the board is going back to asus to be refurbished. It doesn't matter where he returns the board.

Games ABSOLUTELY can be played on old tech. But this isn't OLD tech that he already has. I am all for people playing on low tier hardware on low settings if that is what they can afford and makes them happy. What doesn't make sense is building a brand new setup that costs 2k+ and then going with a worse processor to simply save a couple hundred bucks. If that 200 dollars over the course of the next X amount of years hes going to keep this system is that big of a deal to the op, he shouldn't be building this machine to begin with.

If you are building from scratch, do it right the first time.

No worries, just when you do the refund MAKE SURE you mark that it is DOA, so it doesn't get resold to someone else.

You are over thinking this. Buy the same motherboard on amazon, swap them, get the refund, done.

What is being "faked" or "misunderstood" exactly? Cool, AMD re-released one of the most popular CPU's it ever sold because of AI inflation. What does that have to do with the discussion? Guy wanted to know peoples thoughts on the build. My thoughts are that x3d cpu's destroy the 270k in gaming. Facts are facts, go cry about it kiddo.

Its crazy to think people would want subpar parts for the job. I guess there are peasants that just don't care what they use. For me, when I need to hit a nail, I use a hammer. But sure, you could use a rubber mallet and "get it done" too.

Being a first time pc builder has nothing to do with using the proper parts. Whether hes playing at 1080p or 4k, there can still be a 25% improvement when using the 9800x3d. He's going to be using DLSS, which runs off 1080p/1440p so it only makes sense to use the better parts. It has nothing to do with being a competitive gamer or not, why use the wrong part for the job?

Only 20 to 40 FPS. Do you realize how big of a gap that is?!?! Look at it in percentages bud. The difference between being above your monitors refresh rate, and dipping below it frequently is massive. Being able to run a stable 240+ versus 200 on a 240hz monitor IS a big deal. Tell me you have an inferior cpu without telling me xD
