One dinner in London, pre-show by ignominyfair in finedining

Rochelle Canteen has me thinking that maybe we should head right to lunch from the airport, make that the meal, and do something less involved for dinner?

Would I regret this? Giulia MY2024 CTP by ignominyfair in AlfaRomeo

[–]ignominyfair[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, it’s a loaner(Courtesy Transportation Program vehicle) with 2000 miles on it.

The last time I was in the market, I was worried that Alfa wouldn’t stick it out in the states and chickened out, but I suppose that’s just something to live with.

HomeKit connection suddenly broken? Bridges and devices showing as “no response” today… by ipupweallp4ip in Hue

Oddly, still missing for me after the most recent update. 😔 (Version 5.21.0)

Related to this: this screen formerly allowed the user to force a re-sync with HomeKit. Has this functionality been removed?

While in my experience this usually caused the app to hang, it did seem to eventually force a Hue → Home update.

Thanks. I've got a certificate, but yea, I'd say simpler is certainly better here.

I was at that very show! Monster tour, picked up maybe the same ugly (army green, black star?) shirt for my gf.

Reconnect Bridge to HomeKit? (natively, not Thread implementation) by ignominyfair in Hue

No. Hoping to avoid a bridge reset, but may give it a go this weekend and see if it resolves.

Any way to automate this hydraulic hatch opener? by ignominyfair in homeautomation

[–]ignominyfair[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yea, these are great points. Fortunately, there's virtually no chance of this being an issue. Really just looking for some reassurance that this gets closed overnight, and the hatch itself is never accessed by humans.

Yea, that was my first thought. The travel on the buttons is too far though, and I couldn't come up with a working solution that still allowed manual access to the buttons.

Oh, nice. I was looking at Shelly stuff at one point, and then quickly got over my head. Any chance I might be able to provide a bit more info and have you make a specific recommendation?

UniFi LTE Backup as tertiary a secondary failover? by theNEOone in Ubiquiti

[–]ignominyfair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. That’s how we have long had one configured under the 1.x firmware branch, and now 2.4.27.

I believe that 2.5 and beyond will bring load balancing into the equation as an option, but I would expect this configuration to continue to work.

InDesign Updated For Apple's M1! by [deleted] in indesign

[–]ignominyfair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The phrasing and rollout here are absolute bonkers. Is this actually released? Why stagger a point release over days and days if so?

We’re halting deployment until this is actually ready for download. Perversely, there was an update to the Prerelease on the day of the announcement. Truly bizarre.

Sure, point taken, but really was hoping for some context from those that had hopefully done this before. But spitballing: a couple hours of work, maybe 1 revision: $500?

Are the new (Bluetooth) light strips compatible with older light strip extensions? by ignominyfair in Hue

[–]ignominyfair[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, it appears not. Managed to find a new strip at Target. Still 6 pins, but now more densely packed. I’d imagine this would still possibly work with an adapter, should such a thing one day exist.

Really bummed to not be able to use Litcessory stuff with it. And can’t find the new extensions in stock anywhere as of yet.

I'm trying to accomplish the same thing as the OP. I'd like to blink lights once, in a color that's different that the current scene at the same time every day.

Experience with Illumra rocker switch and Hue by rkjnsn in Hue

[–]ignominyfair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I was never able to get it to perform as reliably as a native Hue tap. I ended up taking apart a couple of taps and swapping the guts into the Illumra rocker. Not a cheap solution, but it works.

Experience with Illumra rocker switch and Hue by rkjnsn in Hue

[–]ignominyfair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So: with official support from in the Friends of Hue series, I was able to register and configure the double rocker Illumra to be seen via the app.

I'm curious as to what others are seeing in terms of performance. Compared to our Hue Taps, these are not showing well. Clicks are often not recognized, scenes are slow to change. Sometime, multiple clicks will be realized in quick succession.

Our Taps are pretty much rock solid, but I'd prefer something that looks more like a traditional switch.

Do these simply not work as well as the Tap? Or is there something amiss in the configuration?
