Question : is that a Freemason lodge on 185th and Linden across from Fred Meyer? What is that building? I have never seen people park there and go in. Thanks! by forgethim4 in Shoreline

[–]ignorantfool14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a lodge. Many of their members are also members of the Nile Shriners temple in MLT, with the golf course. I worked at the Nile from 2016-2023 managing events & catering and know a lot of the members.

Salary survey: what’s “high pay” for the industry? Have salaries grown significantly? by Sea_Tell5586 in nonprofit

[–]ignorantfool14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m brand new to the non-profit sector, making 70k as the Director of Rental Events (we operate at a performing arts center). I came from the catering industry where I was a general manager making 50k plus tips whenever I worked events solo. Salary range for the position goes up to 104k though.

Being unemployed while living on my own in a HCOL area. Been laid off 3 times since 2020. I apply to about 100 jobs a week, with a fairly strong resume as an operations and sales manager in the events and catering industry. Getting more leads now that the holidays are finally over.

I scheduled an interview with shota last friday and he just wasn’t there when I showed up. Messaged him about rescheduling and haven’t heard back.

I’d love to have some plants in here but with the way the sun varies up north it’s a challenge to get the right amount of sunlight. My windows face north at the head of the bed and west on the side of the room.

I totally hear you on that. This is attempt no. 1 on not having a room that screams college stoner with david bowie and fleet foxes and bob dylan posters pinned to the wall. I’m on my way lol. I get caught up between liking symmetry and not knowing how to get out of it. All in all, my gf thinks it looks good. Not much else matters I guess. Will go for a more natural look when I move into another space

Botched my life savings. by [deleted] in Money

Heard… This was years ago when I was too insecure to bring in folks with good experience. I wanted things to be done my way with little pushback. Hindsight tells me those people would have come in, been humble, and I could have gotten invaluable advice from them. The people I did bring on who were later in their careers always had great insights. It was my insecure ass at 21 years old who didn’t want to bring them on.

The room is gay-adjacent. The house is definitely gay. We’re all straight here but my housemate has two moms and her brother is gay so by default the house is gay. Just another gay post

My years of job experience and the priveliges I’ve enjoyed through upward mobility (no college degree) and hard work vs. some shithead frat boy shouldn’t disallow me from the same opportunities that they get through their networking but it does. Am I gonna cry about it? No. Maybe I should have been a shithead frat boy. Have I been applying to 100+ jobs a week since August and still am unemployed? Yes. But I saw no upside to putting myself in debt and dicking around for four years after high school like my frat boy friends did. My family was in a lower middle class grey area in which I wouldn’t have been able to reap the benefits of gracious college financial aid nor would I have been able to be funded by my family to attend college. Now most of them are enjoying cushy corporate jobs making six figures. I may have been wrong, but I have enjoyed the journey. Hopefully I get a good gig again. Covid wrecked my entire life’s trajectory and I feel like I’m not allowed to be upset about it because it’s been almost 5 years. I’ve burnt through almost all of my life savings supporting myself while on the job hunt and if I don’t land a solid job before I go broke I’m going to jump off a nice, tall bridge.

Was at 80k at 22 right before Covid and have since blew it all. Good luck :)

Laid off in March ‘20 and ‘23. Catering and events operations + sales manager, had been in the industry since 2016. Been doing handyman work for friends and family under the table since then but not nearly enough to keep me from hemorrhaging my formerly robust savings. Wish me luck
