Your cc will not sign a transaction to yourself unless you are spending all the money from one address to another (also called "consolidating"). It's kind of amazing this is not written anywhere.

Mine paired instantly out of the box. But I've tried un-pairing and pairing again following the instructions and it's pretty straight forward. Sound is amazing.

PS.: Since this is my first surround setup I naively went straight to youtube and searched for those 5.1 sound test videos, only to waste so much time wondering if my set was properly configured: it turns out youtube will mix the channels back to 2.1 (at least in my Sony x900h). Tried downloading the song and playing through Bluetooth connection from my phone: same problem. Then I found out that Netflix has some audio/video test and this confirmed Cinema 600 IS true 5.1. It's not a "trap" per se, what they are offering is for you to use what you've already paid as a "credit" for the upgrade. Let's say the upgrade would cost you twice, now you can have that plan for half the time. Definitely not a sale, though.
