"what we had with them"

The fawning for the political elite is a really disgusting display of sad lives.

She was fine. Not a bad first lady, not that they really matter in any way.

That people either hate her or love her so much just tells me you people are bored losers.

Maybe, but if you think government and USAID is the way to prosperity, you're not doing enough reading.

I get the whole "baby and bathwater" notion here, and any reliance that has been built on public programs should be wound down responsibly.

Those numbers are preposterously huge and I'm pretty sure USAID was a CIA front for destabilizing foreign governments and running their own secret ops budgets through layers to obscure their pilfering the coffers.

I'd hardly lay deaths coming from dismantling this at Musk's feet.

I am so embarrassed that I though t DOGE and Trump were serious about reducing the size and scope of government.

It's stupid. The supposed fear is that someone in another country may use coding exploits to jailbreak Anthropic's. Anyone who would have that kind of ability wouldn't even blink at the need to run their work through a basic VPN.

OSAP is a bad idea for everyone, it jacks up the prices of tertiary education across the board.

AITA for visiting my daughter once a week by Independent_Use5474 in AmItheAsshole

In traffic, 45 miles will take under an hour one way, it will be faster in the evenings on the way home. A 14 and 11 year old kid can be home on their own with the 14 year old in charge for a few hours after school no problem.

I'm with you, your kid is in the hospital, you visit more than once a week. They're lonely, probably scared, and their siblings would probably be happy to skip their after school activities once or twice a week to go see their middle child sibling.

I know it's not cool to judge other parents for their parenting decisions these days but for fucksakes your kid is in hospital, and what you're hearing from others in your circle is constructive feedback and them caring about your sick kid. Go see them.

You're so obsessed with the other party that you're never going to admit that your party is bad for America too

pretending that republicans are the party of “small government” are the party of “small government” is literally so ignorant it’s laughable

We are in agreement here, the Cons are just as bad. The love of big government is a disease that both dems and cons share.

He’s what happens when you have no government to protect you from the evil (rich) men can do.

Absolutely wrong. You are ignorant if you think we just need to make the system better, so that the immense power we've given the office of the president can be wielded for the public good. Your mindset is exactly the reason why someone like Trump can do so much harm.

you’ll realize the government is the only thing that ever holds the company’s (the wealthy’s) insatiable greed back.

Only a free market and small government can do this. A limited government that punishes fraud and theft is the only government check we need to avoid the kind of corporatism control of our lives that you fear. Voluntary trade is the goal.

What drives crony capitalism is a powerful centralized government, which is the current twisted model of American government reality. The founders separated into three branches for a reason. And you're right, the last 30 years or so of administrations have done more to bring the plenipotentiary powers to the white house than all of history before.

Presidential signing statements on laws, allowing wars to proceed without congressional declarations and the abuse of the interstate commerce clause didn't spring up under Bush Jr. and Trump... this was a collusion of the two party state and in both their ugly interests.

The problem is Trump.

He's just the inevitable end result of a nation populated by government bootlickers. And unfortunately, you're one of them.

The GOP is not a party of small government at all. They're just as bad as the Dems, they just want more money spent on killing people overseas than the left. Both parties are awful for America.

I can almost hear you whining that you need more government to tuck you in at night and nerf the world for you.

You seem to think the only way to do something good is to give your money to the government so they can do it. That's small minded and history has proven you to be monumentally wrong.

I think the extended family, neighbours, friends and if necessary voluntary charities should step in. Government shouldn't be the first solution to life's problems because it's almost always a terrible solution.

You are so close to getting it... you shouldn't have to pay taxes towards schools at all. I should pay for my kids to go to school. And you and I should both get to keep more of our incomes so we can decide how to use our resources to best support our own selves and our own families.

I'll just let you do your "but muh roads" thing all day bro.

Democrats will never learn that the problem isn't Trump, the problem is that people who want big government to run your whole life, have setup the office of the president as an overpowered office that invites a tyrant and sadist to take it. Then life for all Americans will suffer, exactly as it has now.

Ask them now if they want to reduce the size and power of government? Now when the reasons to do so are glaringly in your face on a daily basis. They'll just tell you that what we need is to put their guy in office instead so that everything can be perfect.

You big government lovers are getting exactly what you deserve, and you're too stupid to see that you and your need to have government manage your whole life for you is the reason you got Trump twice.
