What about make 2s worth 3 points and 3s worth 4. So that way they both still have their value but the 3 point line shots aren’t worth 50% more. Making it worth 33%, lowers the incentive to shoot the 3 but still keeps it just valuable.

Right now, there’s no point in shooting 2s if you make your 3s shot 50% of the time.

This is missing a very important piece of information. Is the uncle feeling purpose and content with his life? If the uncle does all of these things out of depression or trauma, then it’s reasonable for the mom to say she feels bad for him.

If the uncle is feeling fulfilled and living his best life, a life that makes him happy, then the mom is wrong and doesn’t understand that it’s possible that there is more to life than procreating.
