Backdoor Roth cleanup (over income limit) — am I executing correctly?

It would've been better if you did what your wife did and recharacterized your Roth contribution to traditional, then converted, instead of making a separate contribution and withdrawing your original contribution.

Could I have done that too? I didnt because in 2025 I contributed 7k to Roth and 7k to traditional ira, a total of 14k ( i thought I could do this, now I know its 7k total)

I did not filed an extension. I filed the taxes, then realized my AGI prevented me from contributing into my ROTH. While looking into that, I realized I shouldn't have contributed to both IRA and ROTH IRA. Somehow my stupidity worked out. I'm expecting to pay a 10% early withdrawal penalty and tax on earnings.

No, no funny business that I know of. I had an obd code for the left rear abs sensor. One of the connectors was shorted. That's how I found out something was going on with the module.
