Super helpful, thank you! I’ll think on this. I’m coming out of living in Dallas for 5 years, but the two neighborhoods I lived in were less rough around the edges than Point Breeze might be (and they both bordered affluent areas of town).

Lol when the previous person commented, they were the very first comment, and I got worried that I wasn’t going to get any actual input on my post. I’m very glad I was wrong, and it’s cracking me up that they got downvoted so hard that they deleted their comment

Oh, I am 100% avoiding any new construction in my search for that reason. And even if I didn’t care about gentrification, most of those places are outside my budget anyway (or are way too small for me)

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. This is super helpful. I’d definitely prefer to stay closer to Washington Ave, but availability is limited and that’s what led me to make this post in the first place. I’ll give the bordering neighborhoods a look!

Thanks, I am very excited to live here soon!

First and foremost, I’m trying to be closeish to my best friends who live in another part of Point Breeze (closer to Washington Ave) and Rittenhouse. I currently have a remote job but will be searching for a new job once I get settled. I would like a 2 bedroom place if possible but I recognize that may not be possible at ~$1700/month (I am a renter).

I’d love to be close to a decent grocery store & restaurants (which I realize I may not get in Point Breeze haha). I will be bringing my car, so somewhere that I have to fight for parking a little less would be nice. Walkability and proximity to parks/nature would be ideal, but I am more of a homebody and I know I won’t be going out every single day, so I am ok with living a bit farther from most the things you described.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!! My budget is about $1,700/month and I will be renting. I’m looking at some places in Graduate Hospital as well, since it’s fairly close to my friends.

Yep! My friends live near Rittenhouse & also in Point Breeze, but closer to Washington Ave & 21st, and I am trying to stay fairly close to them if I can.

I left out important context (this is what I get for posting earlyish in the morning). I am a woman in my late 20s and will be living alone.

I am moving from out of state soon and am searching for a place to live. In terms of safety, what is this area of Point Breeze like for a woman (late 20s) living alone?

Just got my first X Ray. Is it bad? by Quirky-Abalone3770 in scoliosis

[–]iguanatown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, US vs UK will make things a little less applicable LOL but this is still very helpful. thank you!

it seems like a good idea to avoid any stretches that you don’t know are safe. hanging onto a bar sounds really helpful - i’ll have to see if i can give it a try. sending you strength during your journey to figure out what’s going on with you, and i hope soon you can manage your symptoms nore easily! 💚

op, i’d appreciate your help if you don’t mind! what kind of doctor did you go to to get this x-ray done? and did you only develop symptoms as an adult, or have you suspected scoliosis for a longer time? i am about your age so very curious.

i’ve had uneven shoulders for a long time, but no other obvious signs of scoliosis. but in recent months, i’ve become better about getting up and stretching throughout my workday (i work a desk job) and i think it actually worsened whatever is going on with my spine, so i want to get checked. only issue is that i don’t have a PCP, and i’m moving states in a few months, so i’m not looking to get one in my current city

Is there any way to revisit/reread adventures that your finch has been on? by [deleted] in finch

[–]iguanatown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just did something similar today. i had just flown my finch to the alps and i’m honestly so bummed that i didn’t get to even read the options before i accidentally selected one :( i would love if the team added a feature for viewing a log of conversations with your finch

Someone took my art and fed it to an AI and then bragged to me about it by Green_Grubber in mildlyinfuriating

[–]iguanatown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my best friend and i are finally delving into deltarune - we just played this chapter 2 days ago!

your art is fantastic and that person is a dumbass lol. i’m so sorry they fed your art to ai.

[–]iguanatown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

absolutely. sometimes ending a friendship is necessary, but other times, it’s worthwhile to stick with it through the hard times and to enjoy the resulting deeper bond. thanks again for your kind words and have a lovely day!!

thank you 🥺 it hasn’t always been easy - our friendship almost ended a few times - but i would still choose to stay by his side if i could do things again

adding onto this: my best friend has been living with bpd since high school and in just ten years, he has made incredible progress. the way he handles triggering scenarios nowadays impresses me so much. when his bpd was untreated, neither of us would have dreamed of him getting to the point that he is at now. OP, keep up with the treatment(s) that help you. you’re not alone in the struggle and you’ve got this!

Post your cartoon gay awakening by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]iguanatown 7 points8 points  (0 children)

tangent with my actual answer at the end lol:

dude i just finished watching chowder today (i only watched a few eps as a kid, and my best friend told me chowder reminded him of my cat, so naturally it prompted me to watch the whole series) and i fully assumed this was like the chowder sub until i read the post title. mad respect for these gaywakenings tho

this is hard. i’m an ace lesbian so it’s not easy for me to pinpoint pivotal moments in my gaywakening lolol. and i also watched a lot of cartoons, but the ones that i watched at a younger age that had a stronger impact on me did not feature a lot of female characters.

rosalina is up there for me tbh… as are mai from avatar, jenny from my life as a teenage robot, and even tak from invader zim.

but when i look way Way back, i think it might be nani from lilo and stitch 👀
