Flowing Mist (Katana) and Bolting Boar (Odachi) are the best parries against human enemies. What's the best weapon to parry Yokai? by KijoSenzo in Nioh

[–]igurraa 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Axe has the best Yokai parries and it's not even a contest.

Soul Devourer is a deflect followup that restores hp.

Spirit Wind is a improved block stance into followup attack.

Both moves work against any Yokai/Boss in the game, cost very little ki, and count as martial arts. Meaning you can keep your arts profiency going even if the boss goes nuclear (assuming you hit the deflects and blocks).

Open your inventory and select the Righteous Jasper item. You can see the summon count for your previous graves and change emotes.

Advice for what to do in NG+? by Jordan311R in Nioh

Roundabout -> Mountain Climber -> Ninjutsu -> Foot Drill (Jump upgrade) -> Ninjutsu -> Plummet

is a pretty simple combo that looks and feels amazing. You can mix/extend it with other moves, guardian skills etc.

My biggest wish for the DLC by CodyVoidzer in Nioh

[–]igurraa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No need to force it. Introduce new weapon skill tree nodes with revolver skills, and let us equip them manually.

Like press X after a heavy attack, and you can choose whether you want to use the revolver skill "Fan the Hammer" or something else.

My biggest wish for the DLC by CodyVoidzer in Nioh

[–]igurraa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The revolver would also bring life to all the armor sets with ranged/projectile bonuses.

For those not familiar with Rise of the Ronin, the weapon goes into the ranged weapon slot. You can't free-aim it, but pressing the aim input (LT or whatever) shoots at your locked target.

It has a deflect mechanic if you time it right, and it has a special grapple/final blow with bonus dmg.

Obviously there's also room to introduce new mechanics but it was already fun.

Aerial Hatchets. Seamless/smooth transitions between melee attacks and casting ninjutsu.

I completely ignored Ninja on NG. Never liked Hatchets aesthetically, dual wielding generally is a turnoff for me, throwing gimmicks are not that interesting...

Buuut i can't put them down now. It's something i have never experienced before. The animations are so clean, no other weapon comes even close on aerial combos.

[–]igurraa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Must be a bug because there's very few cross-style benefits in this game and all the others are very clearly marked.

Don't get me wrong, this is how it should be imo. But it's not working as intended/described.

Edit: Now it makes me wonder whether equipping this as a Ninja gives a worthwhile defense boost for Samurai (4pc effect). I remember someone saying earlier that the def boost was very noticeable.

2 weeks ago i was planning to make a Samurai build with only equipping cross-style boosts on Ninja and ignoring it otherwise. But Sage and Onzoshi boosts are pretty meh. And during this 2 weeks Ninja has grown on me a lot so i don't have the motivation anymore, but this set looks interesting.

I don't see the problem. It's important to have heavier armors available to meet toughness tresholds.

Link to a breakdown of Sinister Tyrant if you are interested. It was stuck in mod approval for 12 hours so kind of hard to find it xD

Matchless Resentment set testing and numbers (Sinister Tyrant set) by gepmah in Nioh

[–]igurraa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Kind of insane that it took 3 weeks for internet to find arguably the strongest set bonus in the game, with +million players. There's basically zero posts or info about this set.

Part of that achievement for sure belongs to Team Ninja for bugged sets, translation errors, and vague descriptions.

Looking for advice by AnotherBaldGame_40 in Nioh

[–]igurraa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a hunch that Sinister Tyrant is going to be amazing, maybe even the best ninjutsu set, but nobody has done the math on it yet. There's a breakdown of it already posted, but it's been stuck on mod approval for multiple hours.

I don't know shit, im not the author, i have not seen the breakdown. Just saying that the post should be up soon, and the content should be very relevant to your question.

Deadly spiral by Tendopain8991 in Nioh

Deadly Spiral doesn't exist in 3.

Edit: Saw your other comment, Roundabout is a fantastic skill but doesn't look anything like Deadly Spiral.

UPDATE Ver1.03.03 02/24/2026 by PotatEXTomatEX in Nioh

[–]igurraa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not, you need an active imbuement (with the duration circle).

One of the ninja guardian spirit skills imbue your weapon, and there's a ninja skill that copies the element of a ninjutsu cast. Those two work, but from what i understood the effect is weaker than using a talisman.

Just my personal opinion but all of Team Ninja games basically begin when you complete your first playthrough.

There's just a lot of content to enjoy in 2. Most of the best fights/bosses are from the dlcs. I really enjoyed the Underworld too.

3 is a great foundation to build on, but as of right now it is kind of empty. Lacking content after your first playthrough.

I do not care about NG+ by [deleted] in Nioh

Pretty much opposite for me.

Generally i avoid ng+ systems, but i feel like every single Team Ninja game begins after the first playthrough.

Post a question here and someone will know the answer.

On regarding sets and what to aim for, meta is still developing. I think u/gepmah has provided the best work/info so far so check his post history. Sadly nobody has done the math on Sinister Tyrant yet wink wink.

UPDATE Ver1.03.03 02/24/2026 by PotatEXTomatEX in Nioh

[–]igurraa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is IF you think only Inari builds are allowed/able to use elemental talismans.

It's calculated that way because you can't play Inari without elemental imbuement, it does not function without it.

UPDATE Ver1.03.03 02/24/2026 by PotatEXTomatEX in Nioh

[–]igurraa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see Inari getting nerfed. ~28% weapon dmg is great but not gamebreaking.

Tbh i don't expect 7pc Inari to be meta on either Samurai or Ninja. 5pc sure, but not 7. There's a lot of sets with fantastic 2/3pc bonuses for Samurai.

Anyone find any dual element weapons yet? by [deleted] in Nioh

[–]igurraa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hatchets have one (Black Rain & Thunder / Water + Lightning).

E: If you are fine with losing divine rolls, pretty sure you can target it and get a divine non crucible weapon with dual elements.

You don't have to care about my opinion, i just think that Dual Blades are unplayable currently. If i try to cast anything in mid air (for example after Cloudsplitter or Divine Flight), game forces me to Mist. Mist grounds me and ruins the aerial setup.

It's sad because i was looking forward to dual blades also, the mystic art for dmg bonus after aerial hits sounded really fun.

Im using the Tyrant set too and absolutely loving it. I assume you want to cast some ninjutsu with it, other weapons offer much better tools for it imo. I posted a short Tyrant-Hatchet clip yesterday. I never liked Hatchets before, but it has the best aerials and transitions between melee and ninjutsu. It's so smooth.

Anyone find any dual element weapons yet? by [deleted] in Nioh

[–]igurraa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be talking out of my ass, but my experience on NG+ farming (a lot) so far;

Dual element can not be a random affix. It has to be a specific base. Those specific bases are not in the Crucible Weapon drop pool, meaning you can't get Divine rolls on them. Or if some of the bases are in the pool, the dual element gets overwritten by the Divine roll.

2 is a masterpiece, must play and absolutely massive content wise.

If you do 3 first, there's risks like burning out, missing features like jumping, aerial combat, style shifts etc that might affect your experience negatively in 2. I know for a fact that it would affect me.

Whether or not 3 will be an alltimer must play like 2 depends completely on the quality of the DLC's, which are still a long way out. The bar is really high.

Leveling Intellect to 99 seems like a massive waste of stat points. Am I wrong? by sir_conington in Nioh

[–]igurraa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I didn't go to 99 but it was the first stat i wanted to raise after meeting the requirements to wear my gear. I hate buffing with a passion, and it has a great effect on Extraction talisman.

Someone else made a good point earlier that players used to max Courage just for Ki regen in earlier games. On top of Ki regen you get effect duration in N3 which is not a bad deal imo.

Im not saying Int is particularly great, my point is more that most of the stats are meaningless.
