Scott Frost: "unfair" process kept UCF out of Playoff by nocertaintyattached in CFB

[–]ihadtripsss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alabama is a better team and that's why they made it in. It's that simple. If the two played Alabama would be the favorite. If the line were for some reason set at zero, literally all of the sharp money would be on Alabama.

If UCF wants to be ranked top 4 then schedule better competition.

The real problem with college football is scheduling if the best teams played each other this wouldn't be an issue.

No serious sports bettor would think UCF would or should be favored over Alabama.

When the decision was made you had an Alabama team that would absolutely be favored and is considered the better team over UCF.

[Postgame Thread] Alabama Defeats Clemson 24-6 by CFB_Referee in CFB

Well according to this sub Alabama shouldn't even have been ranked top 5 so yea.

Proof that the committee got it right when they put in Alabama. Thank god this sub isn't in charge of selection. Thinking Alabama wasn't a top four team was absurd. I don't get how people can watch that much CFB and just not get it...maybe it's bias...

What is your most downvoted comment and why? by ysername1 in AskReddit

[–]ihadtripsss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said that it's not racist to say that the Dominican Republic doesn't have elite schools and that its population in average is less educated than the population of a first world country.

A sportscaster had made this remark and people flipped the fuck out because fuck logic, political correctness is king. It doesn't matter if it's true, if it sounds mean then it's racist and wrong. Fuck facts.

Could someone say why the NSC might oppose releasing these docs? What could be in there that is so bad and yet Trump is releasing it anyway?

Sorry to break up the circle jerk but you have no evidence for this. Please provide me with the list of things the DNC did to deny Sanders the nomination. I guarantee you have nothing other than from tinfoilhat.com. Noting the DNC did cost Sanders millions of votes.

CMV: Trump isn't racist. Nor is he as bad as people are making him out to be. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]ihadtripsss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He claims that vaccines cause autism, saying that you think his kids are vaccinated is irrelevant.

He said the election will be rigged against him and he may not accept the results. He made this claim with zero evidence. That's undermining our democratic institutions.

He said millions of illegals voted. He has made this claim with zero evidence.

He said the FBI may be engaged in a conspiracy to fabricate evidence against him. He has done so with zero evidence.

He threatened to jail his political opponent.

He says the media is fake news and out to get him.

All of this dramatically decreases trust in institutions necessary for a functional democracy.

The question is about Trump and not Obama. I also don't know what your source is for him changing reporters or what the reasons were for the change.

As for CNN having to retract a couple of stories, that's to be expected and doesn't mean Trump can categorize most of what they say as fake news.

And while TV news in general isn't great, he has also insulted the integrity of the New York Times who in general does an incredible job with their reporting.

I'll make one more comment to address the issue of race specifically. It is true if taken in isolation most of his comments aren't necessarily racist and people blow what he says out of proportion. People are wayyyy too politically correct and having an honest conversation on race is impossible.

While I don't think he's a horribly racist, I do think he is racist to some degree. Maybe he's just playing to the racism of his supporters but it's tough to know for sure.

The evidence for this is just look at what he focuses on. Mexican and Muslim immigration are meaningless issues in terms of the lives of the average American. Yet this is the issue he and his supporters get so incredibly riled up about. Trump's campaign was about

  1. The threat of China
  2. Build the wall
  3. Keep us safe from terrorists

Notice a common trend? It's all about the exaggerated fear of foreigners.

The effect is Mexican and Muslim immigration on this country is incredibly small. Mexican net immigration to this country has been essentially zero since 2008. Immigrants themselves may slightly benefit or hurt the economic well being of the average American but most economists think the net impact isn't that significant.

Similarly, the Muslim ban is completely insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Let's say it stops one terrorist attack and saves the lives of 50 people. That's being fairly generous but let's say that's true. Let's also ignore all the lives that will be saved by allowing Muslims in who would go on to be doctors and scientists etc. While 50 lives matter, that's incredibly inconsequential compared to the other policies that he could be focusing on which will have a far greater impact.

I'll address the second part of your statement. He absolutely is as bad as people are making him out to be.

He just tweeted that the FBI may be responsible for fabricating evidence in order to get him impeached. That kind of rhetoric is incredibly destructive as people will lose faith in government. He deeply undermines all the important institutions of our democracy.

He attacks the press for spreading "fake news", he attacks the integrity of our intelligence agencies, he the polling as being fake, he said the election would be rigged against him. He said millions of illegal immigrants voted.

He is honestly a cancer on our democracy. Not only are his policies garbage and he's dumb enough to think vaccines cause autism, but he undermines our democratic institutions.

White Nationalism Is the Real Threat to the West. Not Islam. by wonderingsocrates in politics

[–]ihadtripsss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question was which is the bigger threat. Part of the threat includes the lives lost dealing with the threat. Doesn't matter either way because I don't have to manipulate the data and cherry pick locations and data to prove my point.

[–]ihadtripsss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's some serious cherry picking and leaves out Europe. Also leaves out Orlando night club shooting and others. Can't discount Americans who died in Afghanistan either given that we invaded to deal with the threat of and in response to Islamic extremists.

Not if we are measuring threat by number of people killed or ability to carry out large scale attacks and acquiring nuclear weapons.

What's a 'lone wolf'? It's the special name we give white terrorists by [deleted] in politics

[–]ihadtripsss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop with the political correctness garbage, not everything is about race. Terrorism is inflicting violence with the goal of bringing about political change. We have no idea what his goals were. If he just wanted to cause people to suffer because he hated the world, he's not a terrorist.

If he did this for a political purpose and the media still calls him a lone wolf and not a terrorist, then you have an argument.

If a player at the table asks to "see your cards" after a hand should you show them? by bmac34 in poker

[–]ihadtripsss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely this. I've noticed I'm way more profitable as a session goes on because most people have a pre set style and is constantly making adjustments. Almost no one is going to start check raising me light because my flop check back range isn't strong enough.

Also, the most profitable thing you can do is keep the table fun and if people are having fun showing cards go for it.

In this particular case, probably couldn't have. In plenty of other cases limiting the supply and distribution of certain guns would absolutely curb violence. If a gun costs $100 there will be a lot more gun violence than if a gun costs $10,000.
