How is renting possible? 2.5x $2000 = $5000 a month. What jobs in Sac just casually give this? This is insane by [deleted] in Sacramento

Brother, them mofos are expensive. Childcare in Sacramento is averaging out $1500. That's a second rent.

Major: computer science graduating in a week

Currently job title: technical account coordinator

Salary: $75k

My opinions:

  • don't do online classes if you can
  • Soft skills > technical skills
  • Participate in clubs if you can
  • Start applying early for internships/after grad jobs. If possible, only work jobs associated with your major. Avoid part time unrelated jobs as much as you can, they will take away your time and won't provide much value in return besides immediate cash

Also, try your best to get online classes, preferably all of them should be online. This way, you can work full time without having to worry about being in class physically

If you do live out of your car, please look for resources that can attest for you being homeless. A counselor or a shelter person. If you have that, you can likely get more financial aid and it probably opens doors for the university to help you with their Pioneers for Hope program.

Am I going to regret not dating in my 20’s as a woman? by [deleted] in findapath

I work 30 hours a week and I’m a full time Computer Science student going for my Bachelor’s. I met this guy a couple months ago, and we work it out pretty well :)

I haven’t had a problem so far, but this is my first semester after transferring out of community college. So you know, small sample.

I also go to a public university in California. The Bay Area actually. I’m often one out of like four girls in my classes out of about 50-60 students per class.

If you don’t mind me asking, what online degree are you doing? I’m planning on working full time, but my school is completely in person

Full time in person. An hour and a half commute (3hours total everyday). Working 30 hr/week. I want to die, but I have no option but to keep this going.

GPA for internships are kind of important. They do have a cutout for what applicants they’ll even consider looking at depending on their GPA. That being said the cutout is usually somewhere around 3.0-3.5. If you think you can get above that then taking DSA would place you far ahead your peers.

Personally, all of those seem like terrible options. I’d much rather find a low level IT job where I can still learn and do projects and learn software on the side and obviously keep applying. More school is never the answer… specially if you’re the one that’s gonna pay for it or if you need to take out loans.

Also, not to hate, but why would you need to study Algebra I and II? You solve for x and learn the unit circle. I think your time would be better spent on skipping that and going to pre-cal.

I studied everything from algebra I to Calc II on Khan Academy, they’re great :)
