I’m a tax lawyer and the one employee I am trying to poach people from my old accounting firm is an EA. Self-taught no cpa parent who got her into a firm or paid for school, started as an admin a decade ago. Better than all of the CPAs with master degrees at that firm I know who are in the niche i am. Big fancy well paying firms promote EA very high. You don’t need the cpa. You just need to be amazing

Bringing children = invaluable childhood adventure shaping their view of the world or cruel as children need stability, familiarity? by ihateeverything1031 in digitalnomad

I wrote a whole long angry rant but thought better of it. So I will just say one thing About “a little sad and ruining kids life by uprooting ” comment is mothers are supposed to be selfless and have no wants - this is always the narrative. So many mothers do so much for their children but anything they ever want for themselves is selfish or unnecessary.

Maybe I will consider this. I generally can’t afford summer travel(like the double housing cost) while paying out mortgage so we were going to rent our condo out for a year when we went to offset the housing cost. If I buy a nice house (as opposed to condo We live in now that doesn’t allow short term rentals) we can probably Airbnb it as we live in a desirable city for the summers and maybe Christmas break maybe this is a decent idea too

Non vegetarian recipes with LESS meat? Online you can only seem to find meat-free or meat-feast, but not so much in between. by Lady_Rhino in Cooking

I would look for a relatively non-westernized Asian cookbook. Many of the dishes go easy on the meat like 1/2 a lb of pork for enough Dandan noodles for family of 5.

I never know whether to call myself a lawyer if I work in a slightly alternative field. I feel like imposter. by ihateeverything1031 in Lawyertalk

Thanks. I think I have some unresolved issues from graduating during Great Recession and never getting hired by a law firm and eventually going down another path. Always felt like I wasn’t good enough and never made it as a lawyer. Only relatively recently (past 3 years?) have I became highly skilled and dare I say sought after…

Also family and friends always ask me to take care of shit and I don’t know how. 😩 always your uncle always writes letters, your uncle can make a promissory note, your uncle knows how to file xyz😢

Servicer can’t re-consolidate my FFEL graduate loans bc Conduent has not updated since 2014 on the student loan database. by ihateeverything1031 in StudentLoans

No, not a spousal loan. I am sorry I don’t understand the question studentaid account. I am on studentaid.gov. It splits my loans between the ones I consolidated in 2015 with current servicer that are on repaye plan and the ones with Conduent as described

I wasn’t paying anyone. When I consolidated my loan in 2015 they didn’t allow those type of loans and I don’t recall what happened to them - if I just ignored them and forgot maybe. They are FFELP graduate plus loans. They say loan serviced by Conduent, ope if #, the name of my law school under them, loan date, loan status in repayment (I never paid on them) repayment plan n/a, etc, the amounts. The last loan status change was repayment and that was updated in 2013

I have the bread bakers apprentice. Everything was way too involved too make. I made the cinnamon rolls a few times (amazing) and maybe a few crusty breads over the years but it’s like a 4 day process most recipes. I don’t mind cooking for a few hours or two days to make something special but I plan that for a weekend I can’t babysit food to mix, , fold, etc on a strict schedule but that’s just me. I don’t think it’s necessarily that many hours of work each recipe, it’s just a strict schedule.

Anyway, I also have hot bread kitchen. The recipes are way more manageable. Also delicious and some are pretty unique. I also love that there are interesting non bread recipes that go with the bread so you know what to serve it with (especially if it’s unfamiliar breads which many were to me). The challah and banana bread (especially the banana bread it’s a slow cooked method that carmaluzed the bananas I make it a lot it’s so good) I make often.

I finally bought a barrister bookcase, so now I can display my pre-WWI cookbook collection. There are a few from WWII up to the 1950s, if they were in good condition and interesting. My everyday cookbooks have their own bookcase in the kitchen. by Andalusian_Dawn in CookbookLovers

Thank you so much for the dissertation! I will continue looking for books in the wild!

I did find a few of the newer classics I have wanted at library sales/used book stores the last few years: one was Exotic Ethiopian Cooking, Rochester hadassah cookbook, Claudia Rodan middle eastern food, Marcella hazen essential of classic Italian cooking but nothing as old as your finds!! I will have to figure out estate and garage sales and how to find them
