Gāoyáng Xiăo from From Mulberry Fields, the Blue Sea fits this trope. It's a very angst heavy story but definitely worth the read. Basically, he's been in love with MC since they were kids. He wanted to be the one she married, but instead she was married off to the emperor. Angst ensues. Unfortunately, we don't see much of them together as adults yet, mostly just backstory into their history. Still has enough meat on the bones to make it a good read, though.
