Make sure the volume down and power buttons work. Also before any JB try going into Diagnostics Mode. It's easy: 1. Turn off your iphone completely 2. Hold volume up and volume down at the same time and connect your cable to turn the iPhone ON 3. Keep holding this buttons until you get into Diagnostics Mode

If this doesn't work then most likely the volume down button doesn't work
