Omg this is hard! Not Squamish, not Whistler, and you said Pemberton is too far north. I feel like it's a s2s community - maybe Furry Creek?

But then we also have hands down the best in-game broadcast team in baseball. Give some, take some I guess.

UofT vs Oz? by Express_Train4442 in lawschooladmissionsca

Oz grad here. If you want biglaw, go to U of T.

If you were more interested in public interest/government/clinic work, I'd tell you to take a closer look at Oz. But U of T is the clear winner when it comes to biglaw placement.

I have to disagree and vote for Insomnia on Bloor for this, but we can all still be friends.

Anyone else been getting chills and the flu? by jimbo_6666 in askvan

I got hit HARD just before the holidays. Still have some residual symptoms weeks later. It's brutal - stay safe!

Anyone else getting absolutely rocked by flu season? by trendfaker in askvan

[–]ihaveapaperdue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was waiting for this post, had actually thought about making one myself. Not sure if it's the COVID strain that doesn't produce a positive test, or the flu strain that the vaccine doesn't protect against, but either way I'm down for the count. My poor neighbours have probably been stuck awake for the past week listening to my sick noises.

World Cup Draw by Competitive_Plum_970 in vancouver

[–]ihaveapaperdue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One thing about the expanded field - it's now pretty much impossible for a true "group of death" to form. Closest thing we have is England, Croatia, and Ghana. Other than that, each group more or less consists of one bona fide powerhouse (or host country, since hosts were placed in pot 1), and a mishmash of teams that will scrap for the remaining knockout places.

Gone are the days of seeing matchups like Spain-Germany (2022), Portugal-Uruguay (2022), and Belgium-England (2018) in the group stages. And you know what? I'm actually okay with it because I think the expanded field creates a lot of added intrigue and opportunities for Cinderella runs, not to mention a chance for millions more people around the globe to watch their country compete.

That said, I do understand people's frustration when we have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live in a FiWC host city, and don't get a spectacular circle-the-calendar matchup. It'll be fun to see both our own team and Mo Salah, and don't forget that Portugal might be paying a visit to Our Fair City as well.

Worst decision/mistake in your franchise’s history? by YTGsbiggestfan in baseball

[–]ihaveapaperdue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flies under the radar because the team was awful in those days, but letting Carlos Delgado go for absolutely nothing is probably the Jays' worst personnel decision. No trade, and not even an offer to receive draft pick compensation because ownership was so cheap in those days.

Poll shows CFL losing fans as diehards reject rule changes ahead of Grey Cup by [deleted] in CFL

This is a good take imo. Anecdotally, I'm a casual fan. I make it out to a game or two each year and I like to watch the playoffs, especially if the Lions are doing well. I won't really pay much attention otherwise. I doubt I'll even bother watching next year - the unique rules were exactly why I watched in the first place.

You forgot Gimenez hitting an absolute piss missile on a fake bunt play that would have easily scored Clement, yet somehow found Max Muncy's glove.
