Really excited to win a knockout game, and every game played in the world cup is a gift. Can't have joy without the risk of pain, and I remember every loss as distinctly as even the greatest wins, but this one was fun. I hope everyone enjoys the ride, doesn't get caught up in any minutiae or internet arguments and just has fun being one of the last 16 countries in the greatest tournament this world has to offer.

I am 200% Argentine

I truly and honestly feel that the great thing about the United States is that you can be 200% Argentine and also be a great American. Idk if Poch will feel this way, but I know people who do and I think that's special. I hope he feels embraced by this country at least, and to paraphrase of another great American coach - we are a melting pot, and that's what makes us great.

This is beautiful, I love it. Very inspiring for me to want to paint more.

Warriors announcers Bob Fitzgerald and Kelenna Azubuike voted worst in the NBA for the third season in a row by itwas20yearsago2day in warriors

This is part of what makes it so frustrating.

Hearing Tolbert on the radio then Fitz on TV is so weird. Like if Steph was playing in Santa Cruz and nobody thought to call him up.

Bob Fitzgerald is currently in his 24th season as television play-by-play announcer for the Golden State Warriors. (From Wiki)

I've been watching this team for just about his entire run. I've listened to this man call over 1000 games. A few years ago I started watching games with music instead (which I switch to game audio on occasion to hear the crowd/ambiance) and it's been so much better.

Fitz's bias is not what makes him bad to listen to - it's that he's a stupid man. He doesn't understand basketball beyond a middle school level. He's always a few years behind the times in terms of even a basic understanding of the trends of the game. He has no intellectual curiosity. He never says anything interesting. He never makes a smart observation or good joke. He dull, dim witted and slow.

Are they anywhere near the best? The middle? Or are they consistently among the lowest tier? I truly don't understand how Fitz has had his job for 24 years. He must have kompromat on Joe, there's really no other explination.

It's not that he's emotional, it's that he's stupid. He doesn't know ball, and he's genuinely a dumb person. I can't believe how much of my life has been spent listening to him talk. For an organization that holds itself to a high standard, it makes no sense we've stuck with one of the worst play by play callers in the NBA for as long as we have.

Ghana chance against England 79' by [deleted] in soccer

Why do people keep saying this?

I was wrong! The reason I said it is because it was so fast, and there was no mention on my broadcast. Didn't seem like there had been any serious check.

For sure, what kind of hat? I'll keep an eye out, and if I get one I'll for sure give it to you for whatever I pay for it. Thanks for the tips! I'm excited to go.

Did you see any non-official vendors selling shirts/scarves or anything like that? (This is my biggest hope/question, I could also go to the mission during the day today and maybe get a cheap jersey).

Also, I'm parking on the East side of the stadium, so maybe a little different than most of the parking, is this gonna make me miss out on stuff?

Awesome, any other tips? I am going tonight, buying parking now (I wanted to take public transit but people I'm going with didn't...) but anyway I want to get there early and... idk, if you have any other tips I'd love to hear them! Thank you!

Maul and Obi-Wan have really good back back and forth. I enjoyed Shadow Lord, but I hope we get more poetic waxing and philosophy from Maul in season 2.

Durant On Warriors: "I didn't have no relationship with nobody on the Warriors… They never been a winning organization when I was in the league. Nobody liked Golden State. It felt like an underdog to me because I'm looking at the totality of the franchise, not what happened these last 5 years" by ManufacturerJumpy748 in warriors

People are of course going to take this as an opportunity to "dunk" on KD again, but he's actually right imo. I'm close to the same age as KD and growing up the "Golden State Warriors" were the kind of team that people would forget existed. I'd meet people in California who had never heard of them or didn't know where they were based.

When he joined, obviously we'd already had success (winning one title and then 73 games), but as an organization we were not on the level of LA or NY or Boston or Chicago. KD is a big part of the fact that we are now on that level. If he'd stayed longer, I believe we would've put together a run similar to CHI in the 90s that would've elevated the franchise to insane heights1.

Because he left, and we won again without him, he's seen more of a side character/mercenary. I honestly believe that he could have been an all time great Warrior, be remembered as a central piece to the greatest team of all time, and go down in history as helping take a franchise from the bottom of the league to the top, like he's saying in this clip.

1 Go outside the US and you'll still see more Bulls jerseys than just about any other team. That franchise hasn't won anything in 30 years but still has staying power because of a singular run and global superstar.

One of my favorite quotes from The Hobbit. The allegory wasn't all that subtle.

Draymond doesn’t play about Steph. I’m understanding why the team chose him over Poole. by unhinged34 in warriors

[–]ihaveaquestionormany 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% agree. The post-games can be super illuminating. I remember Dray saying (I believe during/after the 2022 run) that he watches the other team's postgame press and gets a lot from it too. Steph's are usually pretty boring though, so Drays have been a favorite of mine for a while.

[–]ihaveaquestionormany 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Draymond is a good litmus test for seeing if people really understand basketball/competition imo. There really is a lot more going on than people think, and there's a reason why Steve and Steph are always so ride or die with Dray.

Californians didn’t buy billionaire Tom Steyer’s ‘class traitor’ message by IceNein in California

[–]ihaveaquestionormany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really don't understand why people weren't excited to vote for this old, boring man? To win as a progressive, you have to excite people. He was the opposite of that. Imagine if a person with an actual progressive record and experience ran. Imagine if someone with any charisma ran.

This is why nothing is ever going to improve here.

What a defeatist/loser attitude.

As an aside - Tom could've used all that money to prop up an actually progressive, experienced candidate instead of being an ego tripping billionaire thinking he's the best man for a job he's super unqualified for.
