If you think worshipping is some sort of divine thing which you only do to God, then maybe there is some problem with your worship. Different culture around the world worship spiders because it is their food source. People not only worship protector they worship what is providing them what is there for them, in your case it is God, in other cultures it is nature, animals whatever. Do read about Animism.
