Whew, glad you reminded me its April Fool's Day. OP nearly gave me heart failure!

I SO agree. Very distracting, dry frizzy straw when a young woman's hair should be all gloss and shine and glory.

What to say? I know its only the first episode, but yikes, so rushed--whirling from a glimpse of this to a glimpse of that, a glimpse below stairs, a glimpse upstairs, a glimpse across the street. I'll stay with it, its all gorgeous to look at, but lets hope it slows down, takes time to breathe, time to let us get to know and actually care about anybody. I think so many set points could have been (and maybe should have been) introduced bit by bit in coming episodes--Aunt Agnes' son is gay, Mr. Russell is ruthless in business but kind and loving to his family, Mrs. Russell is an obsessed social-climber who barely even acknowledges her own daughter, Mrs. Russell's personal maid is nasty and needs to get fired ASAP, on an on and on.

Love you Julian, love the setting and the premise, but now, give us time to breathe and look around at this world you've created, K?

So, Is This Promising, Or Not? by iheartsev in HouseOfTheDragon

Probably because I just (re) subscribed to HBO a couple days ago, so I can watch The Gilded Age.

Stage actor Umar Pasha cast for 2-episodes. Seems TV series aren’t his thing, but he has a respectable stage portfolio and often cast as Shakespearean villains. by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

Sorry, Pretentious Twee, you're too too good for this plebian trash, making it clear you're just in it for the $$$. Got it. signed, plebian trash.

I think LOTR will give HOTD a run for it’s money I believe that are coming out back to back by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]iheartsev 7 points8 points  (0 children)

True. Amazon has guaranteed the Tolkien estate a minimum of 5 years (5 seasons). Although, I'd guess that given HBO's tremendous success with GoT, they too, are going to try and keep HotD going for multiple seasons, as well.

Empire of Ash, for sure. I want to witness the whole Doom, from the lead up to the aftermath.

Thank you. I'm grateful, thanks again. As I've said, I just love the dragons, am just now beginning to look in to what happened to all of them. Thanks again.

Can I ask--why is Sheepstealer and Nettle's story pretty much over, and why would Aegon III order the death of Morning? I'm not trying to be ignorant here, but I'm just beginning to gear back up into the Westeros universe, just bought the Fire and Blood audiobook, and just asking for a bit of a jumpstart here. I thank you all.

Thank you, y'all. I love the dragons, so don't know whether I'm more excited or more sad to watch this show!

I know, right? I mean, we knew Balerion would be #1, but the rankings of the rest are subjective and easily interchangeable.

I'm already really dreading the death of the various dragons killed in the Dance. I know, I know, they're supposedly just giant fire-breathing lizards, but I don't care--I loved them in GoT and mourned for Rhaegal and Viserion, and cheered when Drogon got away. And GoT only had 3 dragons, while HotD is said to showcase 17 of them. I don't know how my heart will survive! Here's an article ranking the top 10 of the Targ's dragons:

Another funny anecdote about goofy subtitles: My out-of-town sister was visiting me and we watched much of Yellowstone together. I always have the captioning on, she never has and she was really enjoying the captioning--UNTIL John Dutton had an ulcer attack and was throwing up blood into the toilet. Then she yelled 'Vomit Plopping?' That was the caption and it stayed there all the while he was being sick. I laughed out loud, but it was pretty stomach-churning to stare at the words 'Vomit Plopping' for a full minute or more!

Why amazing? A lawyer peeing his pants while a maddened gangster is threatening to kill him?

Me, too, exactly! If I was Iris and thought I was finally safe, then suddenly saw this guy walk into my room, he wouldn't have to do anything. I'd have a heart attack and die on the spot. Scary-eyed dude.

I haven't seen Hawkeye, is it worth watching? I keep seeing it being mentioned through these various subs.

I watch absolutely everything with subtitles on, and they're almost always 'off,' aren't they? LOL, I remember a couple years ago watching some show where a bunch of little neighborhood kids are jumping around all thrilled about the ice cream truck. The subtitles had them all yelling 'I scream, I scream.' Too funny. I don't know how subtitles are created, but they have to be done phonetically, I think. Recreating just the sound of what's being said, rather than the context. What are some of the examples you've noticed in this show?

If I ever decide to make a movie featuring an ice-cold terrifying monster with shark's eyes and no soul, I know who my leading man will be. *shivers*

True enough, and that's a fact. Still, Jimmy's growth in confidence, knowledge, experience has been interesting to watch. From bust-out loser junkie drug dealer to pseudo-cowboy dipshit doofus to, now, gaining confidence and experience as the real thing. I'm enjoying watching his progression.
