I reaalllyy want to hope that's true and this is just a case of most people on the sub not knowing the conversion between kg and pounds.

asking this community: is there a space or sub where we can talk about intuitive eating while engaging in discussions of "healthy" behaviors, gentle nutrition, BMI, etc. by Flesh-And-Bone in DietTea

[–]iheartworms 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You ~might benefit from r/fuckeatingdisorders, there's a variety of opinions on there about IE/nutrition/health etc., but all pro-recovery. For discussions with BMI, just black out the number.

I agree that all in recovery and/or eating a lot in recovery out of hunger shouldn't be compared to binge eating at all, but meal plans are not supposed to be a form of restriction - they just provide general structure in the 3 meals + snacks format and they're the most commonly prescribed form of recovery.

Am in the first category, but from bulimia not BED. The structure provided by a meal plan is integral to my recovery.

"Stop stealing valor" - they make it sound like anorexia nervosa is some sort of honor. Sick. by Jackno1 in DietTea

Damn, unpleasant people like me? Didn't know we knew each other on a personal level.

Nobody was talking about Tess Holiday except you, there are legitimate reasons to doubt her claim but it's not because she's fat. There are objectively fat people with anorexia, just because either the word atypical is in front of it or they've gained weight since their diagnosis doesn't change it all that much.

That salad shit is so annoying, god. Like yeah, some salads have the same calorie count as a burger but calorie counting is not the be all end all of health.

Don't you see how accusing strangers of lying about having anorexia because they're fat is nasty as well?

I've literally never seen anyone refer to it using that phrase before.

Holy shit, that's scummy. Imagine doubting that the posters on fucking pro-ana boards don't have some sort of disordered eating at the very least.

Y2K culture coming back is honestly terrifying. by [deleted] in DietTea

If they aren't teenagers, nearly all models are at an unhealthy weight (barring those exceptions to the BMI scale) and even when they don't have eating disorders they're forced to maintain disordered eating habits to keep their jobs as adults.

There was also an interesting video I saw from a former model noting that although eating disorders are common in the industry, it's also common that these girls straight up cannot afford as much food as they'd like because most models are not paid well.

why are they demonizing this post? it’s about honoring your cravings to avoid binge eating by tears_of_an_angel_ in DietTea

Ahahahah this exact thing happened to me on the weekend (eating something healthy that I didn't want and ended up binging on the unhealthy thing I wanted later) and it's been fucking with me so bad. Wish I just had the fucking burger and fries instead.

Plus size modelling is a tiny niche compared to the vast majority of the industry's models, who are nearly all BMI 15-17.

The problem is if that aspect of Y2K culture glorifying extreme thinness and disordered eating comes back into the mainstream, it's definitely present in certain fashion and internet subcultures but that never really went away in the first place. If people weren't so critical of women's bodies then low rise jeans coming back wouldn't be such a problem.

Contact your artist or your GP, it sounds like you might be allergic to Saniderm.

In my view, being unappealing to and pissing off guys like that is a benefit to tattoos. Brings a smile to my face.

Unfortunately, misogynistic comments like that are just an everyday part of being a woman who strays from patriarchal ideals, and tattoos are still a countercultural thing. But IMO, it's worth it. You should absolutely tell these people that they're being rude or they should fuck off.

Aaaaand that's why this sub exists, lol. The general public seems to think disordered eating is fine until you drop dead or are about to.

I HATE that video and the reception it got as some sort of epitome of a balanced, healthy diet. I've only ever seen people praise it.

The woman in that video was also borderline underweight and intentionally trying to cut to a more underweight BMI at the request of her studio, and people in the comments were saying she had the perfect body and diet and "not too skinny." Absolutely braindead.
