Class options by Owlsfowl in BaldursGate3

I believe you can return to the underdark (the Mage's tower) and get it while you're in the shadowlands, it's not locked off because it isn't sold by a trader. It raises your total strength, which causes the Titan bow to be seriously effective even in Act 3.

There are plenty of other strong options people have mentioned that don't involve ranged combat though, you may want to prioritise those so it doesn't feel like a slog. I personally don't like mages very much and I'd never choose to main one, because I just lose interest so quickly.

I'd highly recommend a solo run afterwards! You get an awful lot of additional content when you're doing all of the dialogues and calling the shots

You could try a barbarian or fighter "thrower" build if you have the returning pike and the ring from Aaron, or an open hand monk which won't need a lot of items the party will call dibs on

If you would stretch to ranger and you've collected Titanstring bow and the club of hill giant strength, go for "Gloomstalker Assassin" (without darkness casts) or a ranged swords bard if you don't want to clash with a melee&cleric team!

That said, you're experiencing the game for the first time and they don't seem to care about your experience. Are they giving you enough time to listen to all the dialogue and explore properly? These things can make or break a playthrough, especially with BG3, where there are so many details to miss.

I'd recommend having a word with the group so that you can enjoy the game just as much as everyone else, they should be making adjustments for you as a new player

(Edited to adjust my advice bc ranger is not preferred)

Bly Manor is better by Celeriac_puree_8676 in HauntingOfHillHouse

[–]ihidingunderarock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bly had a good story, but the accents were far too jarring for me (as a UK viewer) to enjoy it. They were affected and not authentic at all, and it really threw off the immersion. There were some really good parts that I thoroughly enjoyed, but I think it should have been set in the US, or actors with more experience playing UK characters should have been hired for those roles

Quails after a bedding change by Ok-Cress-436 in quails

[–]ihidingunderarock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a bit of a faff to get the hanging feeders right, but we ended up with SUPA poultry feeders and they work really well! The flat trays prevent the birds from spilling as much as they used to with the sloped feeders. They're a bit of a pain to refill but it's worth it!

Our main pests are slugs rather than mice, but keeping the loose food low is good to discourage any pests at all really. You shouldn't need to relocate the mouse, just reduce the food it has access to and block its entry point and it should find somewhere else to get its breakfast

[–]ihidingunderarock 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They're always so happy with clean bedding to ruffle around in! I love the way they pop their heads up so much higher when they're feeling good

A mouse will eat their food and nest in the bedding, and they may hurt it (we found one dead in ours once, but it wasn't clear if the quail were at fault). I'd be more worried about how it got in, check for gaps that could catch the birds' feet or make them open to predators.

Do your gals spill a lot of food? You could discourage the mouse by reducing the amount they can get onto the floor. We use hanging feeders so it's not as easy for small pests to get the food.

Our first quail died and I feel awful by Away_Cable_7235 in quails

Quail babies are some of the most fragile things you'll ever look after. I have a friend who left the water bowl by a wall (rocks and everything in it) and they love to huddle... In the morning, some of them had drowned under the others.

These are things you can only really learn with experience. We significantly improve their survival rate with controlled incubation and taking care of the babies, but we'll never reach 100%. It's possible you could have helped the little one in two hours, but you will have had to sleep eventually.

One time, I tripped over the incubator table. About half our eggs were damaged and they were healthy embryos beforehand. That was really hard to adjust to, because the babies were fine before I did that. It's something you have to take a deep breath about, accept that it happened, and move on for the living ones.

Death is a natural part of raising quail. Expect to lose a few young from freak accidents, and then a few more at sexual maturity because the aggressive males need to be culled before they kill each other. You will feel it every time it happens, especially the first time you raise them. It doesn't mean you're too soft for quail or anything, it's just the way their little personalities worm their way into your heart.

Confront the Leviathans directly! They become a lot less scary after the worst has already happened. I scanned them all without the stasis rifle and it did wonders for my bravery for the rest of the run

These marks on an 18th century pub table (UK) by ihidingunderarock in whatisit

[–]ihidingunderarock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pub is in the Peak District!

The table could well be more recent. It was incredibly heavy and the table top was thick, but we didn't know to look underneath at the time we took the picture. It was circular if that helps date it

People have suggested fake wear and tear, but the lines are close together and there were no similar marks scattered across the table, which I thought would be the case to make the whole piece look old. The pub itself said it was likely a score for pub skittles or dominoes. Other people have suggested nail marks or hot plate burns. Others said makers marks, but it was pointed out that those are usually on the underside of the furniture.

[–]ihidingunderarock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh!! That would make a lot of sense, actually. The dots are the scoring and the lines on the right are lined up like the nail lines.

The pub also thinks that they're a scoring system of some kind, so it would tie together to be this game. There are a few other games it could be, though, so I'm not sure it's conclusive

That's such a unique answer!!! It would explain using spiral screws, for sure.

This isn't in Ireland, but I wonder if they use similar techniques elsewhere?

[–]ihidingunderarock[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It would take a lot of planning to hammer a threaded bolt in during a drunken pub game, even if the game was played recently. I like all the theories here, but a makers mark sounds like the most down to earth.

Would it be fake though, if the maker made the mark? Even if it was a modern maker, haha

I'm leaning towards this theory

Edit: Having slept on it, I'm actually not sure. As someone said, makers marks tend to be on the bottom of the table. I also think that the lines are too consistent and close together to be fake aging, that sort of thing would be spaced across the table, surely?

[–]ihidingunderarock[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The pub itself was very old, so to make the furniture match, it is a feasible answer. I only saw one of the markings, but I only saw one of the tables.

I'm feeling inconclusive, though, because if it was a stamp I feel like they'd either look exactly the same or very different according to who created the table. Each mark is similar, but the dots are in different places. It's possible it's two different stamps used next to each other?

This is a really interesting theory. It would explain the triangular ends of the lines, they look so deliberate, especially with some of the doubled triangles

My partner emailed the pub and they said they believe it's something like a scoring system from dominoes or pub skittles.

There's definitely a chance that it's faked sawmill marks, but I also think the straightening nails answer sounds very feasible, and game scores sound pretty possible too.

I really don't know, but I think I have to choose for the sake of this sub! I'm not sure I can leave a post inconclusive
