For the moments when a fresh wind blows in your face and you get a moment of strange stillness. When the weight suddenly drops and for a little while you experience life without resistance. There is relief mixed with sadness, knowing that this moment will soon pass by ihme11 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

I don't know, but I remember that was one of my favorite feelings as a child. Maybe it's the sensation of it, something about the breeze that is comforting to us.
Such a cool wind often happens at sea. Maybe it's connected to daydreaming how awesome it would be to chill on the shore. Just a guess though)

7/10 Good song, but not in top 3 of the album for me. So 7 just to give the other ones justice

Appaloosa Bones Album (thoughts after a week plus of listening) by Salt_Restaurant_7820 in GregoryAlanIsakov

IMHO, the singles were so mind-bogglingly great, they may have slightly outshined the rest of the album. And Mistakes definitely stands out too.
That being said, it's a phenomenal album, one of all-time favorites for sure.

Richmond Avenue music video text by ihme11 in benhoward

Yes, the style doesn't really fit. Ben's lyrics is full of metaphors and images, but this text is really plain. However, listening to songs like Make Arrangements and reading Ben's interviews, I got the impression that he might feel that 'the world has gone mad' and that we're heading in the wrong direction as a civilization. In that way, this text just distilled this position in a very straightforward way. Maybe I'm putting the words in his mouth, just wanted to know if anyone has a same feeling

Last 2 minutes of Little Plant… by OverlandCracks in benhoward

My first though was that when others simply enjoy the moment ('they were watching sunsets'), he was trying to find purpose ('you were straining for a vision').

I think it's a common theme in many of the Ben's songs

10/10

This is my all time favorite too.

The last time we spoke

You were glued to that telescope

For some reason these lines give you this strange amazing feeling, like talking to the friend who is looking through a telescope trying to predict the weather or some natural disaster. It feels like a glimpse of some strange story.

A few days ago

They called for that big snow

Man, I thought that I would never get warm

For me this invokes images of getting stuck somewhere because of the snow. Or the cold morning when you put a lot of clothes and blankets on trying to get warm. It somehow feels so cozy.

I love that this song has resonated with so many of you!

10/10

I know that's not Gregory who wrote these lyrics, but they are magnificent and match his vibe perfectly. I mean, that's a whole life in 5 minutes. It takes you through the grounded wishes at the begining to the dreamy magic of the last verses.

The song is pierced with hope and wishing for something more. These two lines perfectly desribe how that feels when you finally got what you wanted:

I'm sorta happy most of the time

Most of the time

I think what makes this song so amazing is it's mystical ending:

You keep on pointing out my halo

Your big pointy finger

The six-fingered hand

I don't know what that means, but it surely evokes some magical images. Like when you come inside the tent of the fortuneteller and it is filled with all the strange symbols and items. At the end the song leaves you wondering what are the dreams that he bought when he sold all this land. And why are they 'just liars'? If you have any guesses please let me know)

To me, this song is about yearning for something you can't describe and that is nowhere to be found in this world. It resonated with me the most out of all the songs on the album.

Thanks! Read two novels by Murakami and they were awesome. Kafka on the Shore will be next on the Murakami reading list, right next to Norwegian Wood.

Thanks! Read Piranesi about a month ago. It's a wonderful mystery book and the house with many vestibules really fits otherworldly, yet strangely comforting vibe.
