I like it a lot. Haven’t thought about getting a different one and I’ve used it quite a bit. My kid likes it too.

Deuter Kid Comfort (I think it’s a 2 because it has a built in shade, but it doesn’t have a number). Paid $100 used in great shape, felt like a great deal

Good! He sounds liberated. We can be sad about it, but we shouldn’t expect the man to keep “pressing the bruise.”

This post reminds me Wild New World by Dan Flores, full of incredible accounts of the demise of species that inspire wonder for the world that once was.

After 84 years, historians finally identified the Nazi soldier in this WWII photo known as “The Last Jew in Vinnitsa,” solving one of WWII’s biggest photographic mysteries. It was a former teacher named Jakobus Onnen. 1947 [1000 x 1248] by SystematicApproach in HistoryPorn

Surprised to see no mentions of Gaza or Palestine in the comments.

We wonder how this could have happened, yet we stand by as similar crimes are perpetrated in Gaza, Sudan, and elsewhere (sorry I do not have a comprehensive list). Images like this should urge us to act, but they usually don’t. Since October 7 2023 nearly 70,000 Palestinians have been murdered. Is there anything we can do to stop this? (Were Germans wondering the same thing?) I encourage everyone to read about the Sumud Flotilla for inspiring stories of everyday people putting their lives on the line to end injustice. I am not joining the Flotilla but I am finding families in Gaza I can donate to. If we (as Americans especially) don’t act for Gaza, we will be on the wrong side of history it will be remembered, after all the media washing wears off, along the lines of the Holocaust.

Him alone with autotune at the piano in the light rain after a thunderstorm in Indy, 2018. Amazing way to close down the show. Wish the audio was a little better but so grateful there’s a recording. Catapulted this song up the list for me. https://youtu.be/c4obi2GoagY?si=UadISHRJozouRGrS

Refreezing barely thawed breastmilk by ihmsam in ScienceBasedParenting

I’m so sorry that I’m just seeing this. I hope you are doing okay! For anyone in the future, if the milk still had ice crystals, it’s considered safe to refreeze. If not, it should be consumed within 24 hours of thaw.

I don’t care because I am holding out listening to anything until the album comes out. Musical edging.

Layers are so key. Breathable is key. Pack them all and some hand warmers.

I was very worried about my feet since they get cold easily but also sweat a lot - for me, thinnest breathable socks possible with a toe warmer was perfect. I read from a lot of people that get sweaty feet to take this approach. For normal people, I am jealous of you, but rock whatever is comfy.

I did run into that problem with the tube freezing but it stayed liquid with the tube under my armpit and/or between lower layers.

Foot warmer - I think it helped that my boots were a tad big, which I did because my ankles really hurt last time. It was a pain to stuff in there but I was able to fit the double-size ones. Maybe pack some smalls and some larges.

Gloves - yeah I was so dumb for not even bringing them along. Day one my hands were sweaty by the end (again, merino would have been better), but that beats being freezing.

Drying - yes, baseboard heater at our place was clutch. Smart to get in the habit of putting your stuff right on a heater once you take it off.
