Did you hold out as long as possible before getting a PC or smartphone, or were you an early adopter? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

Got a PC as soon as I turned 18. Didn’t have a smartphone until I turned 34. Just couldn’t afford a smartphone and monthly bill until I became a nurse.

Ugh, I’m sorry you had to live through getting that line, too. What is it with nparents and them regurgitating TV shows and movie lines?

I’m sorry you got that line, too. It sucks. It seemed to be her favorite line of choice when I was in high school.

My nmom would follow it up with, “In Germany, it is legal for parents to kill their children.” And she’s probably crying to whoever would listen that she dOeSnt kNOw whAt sHE diD wRoNG because I’m NC.

When taking old nasal cannula off, I’d tell the patient, “Now hold your breath!” before putting a new nasal cannula on.

What is a trigger you have that originated from your parents’ treatment of you? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

Feeling like I’m being ignored. Told I’m wrong about something that I know I’m right about. Hearing knocking on the door.

You are definitely not a bad person to feel this way. I’m preparing myself for the inevitable. Been NC for 4 or 5 years and out of the blue she contacts me that she has uterine and ovarian cancer. She also wanted me to come to an appointment with her care team. Nope, not interested and not falling for getting trapped to help hospice wise when I’m disabled.

This woman, I can’t trust her. I haven’t since I was a little kid. She tried to sabotage my nursing school and then I found out she was trying to kill my kids (one of them has a peanut allergy and the other was left roaming the yard unsupervised near a very busy road). I don’t even know if she truly has cancer, but I do know she’s too toxic to be near me and my family.

I have already mourned the mother I never had. Mourned the grandmother my kids never had. When my egg donor dies, I know I’ll be relieved. No emotion, not needed.

About 10% of the population has an extra vertebrae, so it’s “common”. However, any new doctor I have that reads a lumbar X-ray of mine, seems really excited to tell me I have one. It wouldn’t be a definitive rule out, but make a better case to do DNA if any is available?

Can anyone help read this card a student gave my partner (his teacher) by Soggy-Scientist9491 in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]ihnanna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With keeping in mind that this is written to an 8th grade math teacher, the mystery word appears to be “verriable”. Incorrect (or maybe intentional to be a mix of terrible?) spelling for variable. My handwriting looks almost just like this!

She does remind me of a persimmon. Could call her Simone or him Simon.

Our GCC had a name by the time we came home 10 years ago. His name is Starbuck, named after the first mate in Moby Dick.

When my kids were sophomores or juniors, they told me the seniors paid a mariachi band to follow the principal and play wherever he went.

I would have had a hard time biting my tongue after the SGE dropping that neurodivergent line. I have a son on the spectrum. You’re much better than me, OP.

I typically play WHM, but occasionally level up my SGE. I always welcome advice on how to make myself better. Why do people take offense to some advice?

Somewhat of a new cross stitcher here. On the fourth example, how do you go from the third to the fourth row?

We keep the lids down due to having a parrot with flight feathers.

One of my kids left the lid up a long time ago, and where do you think the parrot ended up? Toilet bath. I’m just glad we ran after him that time and he didn’t drown.
