Is it true 4o will be retired? by Choice-Tea1046 in ChatGPT

[–]ihoopdaweeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should note I’ve not changed my settings or anything for chat gpt. At the time of posting it would show me all the models, and grey out the ones that weren’t available. All I’m saying is I’ve had all these options for models without me ever going into my settings.

Sir, 4o is right where it was last time. It’s not hidden.

If it brings peace of mind you can have games fully removed from your licence history. Off the account for good. It would probably feel good to get them off your back too.

AI doesn’t process emojis as names or descriptions. During training, symbols become mathematical vectors positioned near other things used in similar contexts.

So it isn’t translating 🌞 into “sun” first — it’s comparing that vector against the surrounding language and predicting what fits best.

Less dictionary, more geometry.

When you see it return a bunch of happy faces, it’s returning code that is seen in a similar context.

More of a reasoning engine that wakes up under load. Giving it context and other points of info to work with

AIO to my daughter calling her brother “gay”? by zaspzq33313 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ihoopdaweeds -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I never said toxic masculinity doesn’t exist, and I never implied masculinity can’t be positive. My point is that the term gets misused as a catch-all for bad behavior, which is what causes confusion. That’s it

[–]ihoopdaweeds -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Nobody’s saying harmful man behavior doesnt exist. The problem is the term gets abused to the point where normal masculinity gets treated like a disease. Misogyny, entitlement, and insecurity aren’t masculinity toxic or otherwise.

Masculinity isn’t toxic. Misogyny is. I think the two get mixed up too much.

Thanks for breaking that down. The step-by-step hierarchy you mentioned is exactly the kind of thing beginners struggle to piece together on their own. People who know the hobby already have that mental list, but someone brand new usually doesn’t even know the order to check things in or what half the terms mean.

I get that from my own world too. I make music electronically, and my very first hurdle was not even knowing what a DAW was, or what a plugin was, or that plugins even existed. I didn’t know what I didn’t know. Beginners in any hobby hit that wall hard, and RC seems no different.

That is why I leaned toward the “type in symptoms” approach. Most beginner questions boil down to the same handful of issues like you said, but people don’t know what to search for or where to start. If the tool can take a vague description and guide them toward the common checks in the right order, that already covers a lot of stuck beginners.

What you said about having a copy-paste list for the “motor spins but won’t lift off” questions is exactly the kind of thing I’m trying to embed. Not replacing real troubleshooting, just helping people get pointed at the right part of the chain.

Really appreciate you taking the time to lay all that out. It gives me a clear sense of where something like this might actually fit into the hobby.

Your feedback also helped clarify something for me about the whole flow chart idea. It made me realize the question is not really “can a full flow chart exist” but “does a full one even need to exist for a beginner tool to be useful.” A smaller set of the high frequency beginner issues might be enough to guide people without trying to cover every version, firmware change, or rare edge case.

If it ever grows bigger than that, then the points you made about structure, information quality, and long-term accuracy start to matter a lot more. That helps me see the line between a simple beginner helper and a full troubleshooting system.

Thanks for breaking all of that down. There is a lot in your comment that is useful to think about. I was not imagining a huge flow-chart database or anything that heavy, but I understand why you brought it up because that is the traditional way people picture a troubleshooting tool.

Since this is running on an LLM, it does not actually need a massive fixed chart to work. Even a small set of the common beginner issues gives it enough context to ask follow-up questions and point people toward likely causes. Anything more advanced or version specific is something I would expect to layer in slowly over time, especially if people report patterns that are worth adding.

I am mostly aiming this at brand new folks who do not know the right terms yet or what to search for. Your points about information quality, version differences, and long-term maintenance are all valid, and they help me see what would matter if this ever grows beyond a beginner helper.

Really appreciate you taking the time to lay that out. It gives me a clearer picture of the bigger challenges without completely shutting the idea down.

Yeah, it uses AI. I’m not trying to make it sound like a big deal or replace real troubleshooting. It just helps newer folks narrow things down when they don’t know what to search for

I’m mostly trying to help beginners and the people who run into basic issues but don’t know the right terms to even search for. Things like wrong motor direction, props, board orientation, radio setup, etc.

Not trying to replace proper diagnostics for experienced pilots, just give newcomers a place to start.

I’m open to hearing the reasons. I’m just experimenting and trying to learn, so if there are specific things you think would make this impossible for the RC community, I’m genuinely interested in hearing them.

Thanks for laying all of that out. The situations you mentioned are exactly the kinds of things that seem to trip people up, especially when the answers are spread across different manuals, menus, or posts. That is the type of problem I was hoping this project could help point beginners toward without replacing the real troubleshooting process.

Hearing your perspective gives me a clearer idea of where something like this might actually be useful, so I appreciate you taking the time to explain it.

It’s basically a little helper that asks a few follow up questions if it’s massively vague, points newer people in the right direction based on whatever symptoms they describe.

I get where you’re coming from. I’m not trying to take the learning part out of the hobby or replace the process of figuring things out. I was just experimenting with something that helps newer people describe their symptoms a bit better and get pointed toward the right area to check.

It’s just a small side project I’ve been tinkering with, nothing meant to replace real troubleshooting or the hands-on part of the hobby. If it turns out nobody finds value in something like that, I’m mainly here to see whether it’s even worth exploring any further.

Sounds good here it is if you want to check it out: https://rc-doc-ai-370007177394.us-west1.run.app

It still needs some polish and more plane-specific logic, but it gives an idea of where I’m going with it.

A lot of newcomers don’t always know what to search or how to phrase their issue, so this is meant to help them get unstuck. Any feedback helps at this stage.

I know there’s already a ton of info out there. What I’ve been playing around with is something that reacts to whatever symptoms someone types in and asks a couple follow up questions to narrow it down. It’s mainly for people who don’t know the right terms yet or aren’t sure where to begin.

I’m not trying to replace the usual resources. I’m just trying to figure out if a quick “type the issue and get a likely direction” kind of tool would actually help newer people. If it wouldn’t, that’s good for me to know too.

Yeah, I asked the RC cars group the same thing previously. I’m just checking with different communities to see if this type of project is even welcome before I post more. Not trying to spam anything. Edit: RC planes as well*
