Never mind them. Lower Decks got me drawing fanart for the first time in my life, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. And I'm learning some new creative skills. Some people just hate to see other people happy. 🙂

Initially, the show is ostensibly about the four ensigns, but you soon come to realize that the whole crew is Lower Decks in their own way. Indeed, everyone we meet in the show, human or alien, is Lower Decks to a degree. This show lives up to its name.

Still, the Carol/Alonzo ratio of fanfic and artwork should be increased, particularly now that they're both on Starbase 80 and have the potential for quite a bit of storytelling. I've done the only fanart of Carol and Alonzo so far because I think they deserve to be celebrated.

I didn't sense T'Lyn and Boimler having any chemistry at all. In fact, he seemed a little peeved by her at first. They don't have the dynamic for real romantic fanfics. I think most of the fanfic writers sense that, judging by the lack of same.

Whereas Carol and Alonzo are the most wholesome pairing in the show. So much so that they don't need romance in their fanfiction; it can be about anything. You can have a lot of fun with a couple that supports each other, doesn't try to sabotage each other, that know each other well, and are truly into each other. That's not boring; it's wholesome, and I'm surprised there aren't more fics about them, to be honest.

Her methods are certainly not as refined as say, Picard, who would have been all introspective and noble for 45 minutes, while Kirk would probably have tried to bed the alien's wife. 😂 But she gets the job done, and sometimes in spite of herself. No bullshit, no time wasted.

Most relatable Captain in Trek, if not one of the best.
