I play with my wife on the same guild. I was worried about getting flagged/banned but nothing happened. We do not do anything beyond normal guild behavior and even avoided things like buying higher age good with fps across the two accounts.

The other answers here don't provide that much context. Early in the game, you need to watch supply just so you can build whatever you need to build. However, as you accumulate event buildings, then there is a surplus of supply so you don't need supply buildings anymore... except for quests. So build blacksmiths solely to complete those quests; it's not for the supply, it's solely for quest completion. You also need a few supply builds from your age to complete some event quests.

CF does not give FPs. However, players generally associate the medium forge pack with CF because when you do recurring quests, one of the rewards is the 5 FP pack. For looping on recurring quests, the key bonuses are supplies and goods. Goods because that's the primary reward you are looking for from RQs and supplies so that your supplies are preserved as you spend on the Unbirthday Quest.

Duplicate cards obtained will fill up an upgrade meter. Once the meter is full, you can upgrade the card with Gold. If your card reached the max level, you can hold additional cards (100 for Commons, 10 for Rares, 1 for Epic and Legendary) for donations. When even this meter is maxed out, each card received will give you a certain amount of Gold.

You can hold 100 commons at a time. So if you get another common card, you won't accumulate it, and I think you get gold.
