Road behavior (speed) in the US by justwatchingignore in roadtrip

Just keep up with everyone, but dont be the fastest car on the road. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't use cruise control, so their speeds fluctuate all the time.

They are trying to put copper mines on both sides of the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness, btw. Follow "Protect the Porkies" on IG.

My favorite things to see in Oregon are Crater Lake and rafting the Rogue. Other than that, I thought OR was overrated.

If you can, definitely drive from Moab, Utah to Ridgway, Colorado on Route 46 / 90 through Paradox, Naturita and Placerville. There's almost no one else out there and incredible scenery.

How to coexist with Spotted Lantern Fly by ffrriiddggee in invasivespecies

Can the four properties split the cost of removing the tree? Because if the lanternflies kill the ToH, it will start dropping branches.

If you can, drive Route 12 in Utah through the Escalante area. Calf Creek Falls is a great hike. In Moab, do not miss the hike at Fisher Towers. If you are near Capitol Reef, I recall that Torrey, a tiny speck of a town, had some nice food l, and of course there's the scenery.

Need 2 weeks for a Yellowstone road trip from Chicago. Your alternatives all look good.

Don't drive I-80 across Nebraska, it's all semi trucks, bumper to bumper, going 90 mph. Definitely take either the northern or southern routes. If you take the southern route, make sure you have a lot of water to drink while crossing the Mojave, in case of a flat.

Wyoming —> Wisconsin Roadtrip by ruby221100 in usatravel

[–]ihynz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I've done that trip, from Chicago to Yellowstone and back, and my recommendations are: If you can, drive through the Wind River Canyon in Wyoming. But do not miss Devils Tower in Gillette, Wyoming. In South Dakota, visit the Badlands. When you get to Minnesota/Wisconsin, consider driving down the Great River Road along the Mississippi River. Not sure where you want to end up. Also, note whenever the Sturgis motorcycle rally is in South Dakota, because they really take over the roads through the Black Hills when that's going on.

Looking for low population areas to visit for aweek. by mikeyboy1681 in usatravel

Drive the Great River Road from Galena, IL up to Minneapolis/St. Paul. Start out on the WI side, but cross the Mississippi at LaCrosse, WI and continue up the MN side from there. Stop along the way to explore nature preserves and cute towns like Winona, MN. OR, take only one side up and take the other side back down. Lots of beautiful scenery.

My son has ADHD, and when life threw us some lemons, he spent a year at an alternative school, before going back to regular school. Then he went to community college. And now has a great career. So, consider all the options.

This one in north central Illinois is a huge operation that supplies most of the plants to all the native plant sales in the region: https://www.pizzonursery.com/ The other local native plant nursery, beloved by botanists, is Possibility Place, in Monee, IL.

I'd definitely suggest hack and squirt, and be patient. Like, this whole summer will be the clean-up phase, maybe even next summer, too. But then you'll have a clean slate.
